Breakthrough - so now some suggestions needed
« on: April 17, 2006, 11:16:20 am »
We had a little breakthrough yesterday. I've been having problems getting lo off pureed food onto 'proper' food (he has no teeth yet). He loves jars/Babylicious stuff, and will eat everything I offer like that, but finger food has been hit and miss.

Yesterday, I was eating (canned) salmon sandwiches, so I offered him a piece - well, you'd think it was chocolate the way he guzzled it :o :D. He ended up eating the whole thing, and I had to make another one for me :).

So, can you suggest similar things I can offer - he liked it I think b/c it was soft, tasty, easy to get into small chunks, (and probably a bit salty :-[ :-[)?

TIA
Caroline :)

You might try a different kind of sandwich tomorrow and see what part of it he was so interested in. If he likes a different kind of sandwich, then it's the texture, but if he's not interested, then it's probably the salmon. Other tasty sandwich alternatives...peanut butter, jam, hummus, banana or avocado ripe enough to spread, veggie or fruit puree, cream cheese, or grilled cheese. If it's salty he's after, you can mix just about anything with a bit of salmon. It may be disgusting to you and me, but toddlers often eat the most horrible combinations of food (mine does, anyway).

Oh, and marmite's pretty salty too, isn't it? That might make a good sandwich!
