wake time after last nap?
« on: April 17, 2006, 19:08:26 pm »
As I look through many sample EASY schedules, I notice that quite a few people seem to keep their los up for more than 2 hours after the last nap of the day til bedtime....
I  have been sticking to 2 hours.....my baby is just 5mos old.....should he be able to stay up for more than 2 hours at a time?
On the days his naps are only 1.5 hours, his bedtime seems so early.....
For example, he woke from his second nap at 1:45.....he will now catnap at 3:45 - 4:30..........
6:30 seems like such an early bedtime.
thoughts?

Each lo is different.  Has your lo been going to bed at 6:30?  Has he been sleeping well?  At 5 months you may be able to begin extending his awake time to 2 hours 15 minutes.
with that, my dd is crying...

I would get all the sleep he needs in at whatever times he needs it.  Also, if he is an early riser, and/or a short napper, then an early bedtime is necessary and perfectly normal.  Just for thoughts, my dd is almost 15 mos old, she has and this is her routine:
8:00 wake
10:30-12:15 nap
4-5:30 nap
8:00 bed
So, you see her A times are only 2.5, 3.75, and 2.5.  Of course, her naps have changed up and down alot over the last several months, but right now she's in a "nap alot" phase, and I'm going with it.  Sometimes she'll go through a phase of not really napping in the evening, but she still gets rest time and goes to bed at 8 always.
