stay or leave for sep anxiety?
« on: April 18, 2006, 00:36:16 am »
My lo  ( 7mth ) used to fall asleep very easily that I left when she started to talk and suck her finger then sep anxiety struck.
She now wakes in the middle of the night crying.  I wait for a while then I just put my hand on her back and leave when she falls asleep but she wakes and cries.
Last night, she didn't sleep btwn 2:30am - 5am.  This hasn't happened since she was 3mth.

I read in another book that when they have sep anxiety, you shouldn't wait until your lo falls asleep completely.
What do you think?

How long are naps? 2 X 1.5hrs
What's bedtime? 7:45pm
Do you bottle or breastfed?? bottle
How much? or how long? 25oz
How many wakes per night? just started to wake 1
What’s your LO like when waking at night? How long is he/she up? 5min - 3hrs
When you go to him/her is she fussing or crying? Or is it a mantra cry? crying
What have you tried to settle?? hand on back
What do you do for A time and how long is it? 2.25hr & 3.5hr & 4.25hr
Are there developmental issues such as teething or milestones? teething
Do they have a lovie? no

With seperation anxiaty try getting your LO a lovie. Either a small stuffed toy, or a small light blanket. Have 2, sleep with one each night so they smell like you.
When she wakes try sitting by the crib where she can see you, if you need to keep reasuring her that your there by talking or having your hand on her. Try not to let her fall asleep while your talking to her or have your hand on her. Everynight as she gets calmer, move closer to the door, going to her when she cries and then backing off.
Thats the only way I know how to do it. Maybe someone else will have some better ideas for you.

Hi homealone! Could your lo be hungry? Gage eats between 30-35 oz of formula plus solids (4-6oz). Or it maybe a growth spurt. I know if Gage is hungry he will wake until I feed him. Just an idea.
