Wee question about ....... tinned fruit
« on: April 20, 2006, 07:10:38 am »
Hi

I make all of DS's food, I am finding now with being back at work that I don't always have time to prepare and mash fruit. I am concentrating more on his main meals and I am slowly running low on fruit, because it takes longer to prepare and I no longer want it mashed or pureed.

Has anyone given their LO fruit from tins, like Del Monte or something similar?

TIA
Lauren x

Hi Lauren,
I always use tinned pears, I just get the sainsbury's ones in fruit juice rather than syrup. I do rinse them before Jack has them though because I think the juice is still too sweet.
We have tried tinned peaches but Jack wasn't keen. We just stick to tinned pears, apple and banana now.
You can buy tinned apple too, but I just use fresh.

Cool, thanks very much. I had a look in Morrisions last week but their selection wasn't the best, will try Sainsburys today.

thanks

Yes i have used tin apricots and mango as they are quiet expensive to buy fresh.

Hi Lauren
I was just talking to my friend about this who has a 9 month old. She was saying she uses the tin fruit quite a bit. She buys it in the large tins and whizzes it down. She also uses the tinned fruit that you can buy pureed already ( not sure if you can get it over there?!) She was saying her little boy loves it and it is much more convenient and cheaper. As i am having trouble I haven't tried it yet but definitely will
