Middle of night crying
« on: April 20, 2006, 18:09:09 pm »
My dd just started sleeping thru the night about 2 months ago  ;D.  But for the past 3 nights she will wake up and cry/fuss for about 30 min before putting herself back to sleep.  I have not had to go into her room but would like for her (and me too) to get a peaceful night sleep and she hasn't done this before.
My other question is should I switch her to one nap.  Currently she will go down for her morning nap just fine but will fight me with the afternoon nap.  Today it looks like she will only take one nap as she has been sleeping for 2 hours and it is early afternoon.  Her whole schedule has been wacky for a couple of weeks now.  I think it is because she has started walking and it has thrown everything off.
Any ideas are welcome and thanks in advance!!

Certainly sounds like she might be ready to make a move to one nap; my little one has just made the switch about 2 weeks ago and all the  signs were the same; messed up naps, restless at night etc... she was never like that before so figured I will try the one nap and see if it made a difference; it has and it is nice for me as well because I now have a certain layout of my day back. It is still a bit of a struggle to keep her going in the morning but it is getting easier.

If she is not taking pm nap she is probably overtired when she goes to bed and that certainly seems to make them wake in the night. Sounds like she is ready to go to one nap, early bedtimes will tide you over until she gets established. There are loads or recent posts on here - we have all just been through this!!!

Good luck!
