Waking 45 minutes after bedtime-quick question
« on: April 21, 2006, 02:48:29 am »
I just have a quick question, not really a problem. I have noticed with my LO that if she goes to bed before 8 pm, she wakes at the 45 minute. If we put her down after 8, she will stay asleep. It is not realted to not being tired enough or too tired. It just all depends on the time. We really want bedtime to be 7:30. So, we put her down and at the 45 min. mark have to go in and patt/shh to get her back to sleep. Usually this is very easy. I am just wondering, how long should it take before she stops waking after 45 minutes?

Thanks

I truely think that depends on each lo.  My son had to be put to bed really early last night and woke up at the 40 min. mark thinking it was nap and not his night sleep.  Once he realized it was night time he went back out on his own (15 months).  Does your lo have a cat nap early evening before her night sleep?  What's her schedule?  Does she sleep through if put down at 8pm?  And if she does sleep through, is it a good idea to keep the 8pm bed time for now??

She doesn't sleep through whether she goes down at 7:30 or 8:30. Always wakes somewhere between 1-6 for a bottle and then back to bed. She does have a catnap around 5. We are really trying to get bedtime between 7-7:30. This is the same as DS's and we would like to get our evenings back.  ;) I think we'll keep trying 7:30 for a while. She has to catch on eventually, right?  ???

After a cold and growth spurt at 3 months, our lo, who had been sleeping a six hour stretch at bedtime since 6 weeks, suddenly started waking 45 min into bedtime - it didn't matter when he went down!  It just took 3 weeks of persistently pat/sshing him back down...finally in the past 2 nights he hasn't needed us to go in.  Sometimes I think you just need to wait out these things, they are just blips in our lo's development - just a pain for us to deal with  ::)
