Alternatives to cow's milk after 12 months?
« on: April 21, 2006, 13:56:23 pm »
I have read a few posts about transitions from BM right to soy milk, has anyone else done this?
What other options are there?
When my dd is ready to transition from BM to something else most people reccomend cow's milk but I do not plan on giving her cow's milk and was just wondering if anyone else has used alternatives, and how it worked for them?

TIA

This was an add at the top of the Solid Food category.  It's for a soy baby drink.  Maybe you could check that out.

we did switch Ryan to cow's milk originally but whilst i was on holiday a mum mentioned she gave her son " rice milk" as it helped with his reflux . we gave it a try and Ryan prefered it , not only was it better for his reflux but he slept better and it helped with eczema (no dairy ) . the only problem with soya milk is that it can be constipating for some babies

I didn't specifically offer either my kids milk to drink after weaning from breastmilk. I put cows milk on cereal, offer yoghurt, cottage cheese, cheese etc to get their daily requirements in that way.
