Starting EASY on 4-hour feeds?
« on: April 22, 2006, 19:25:16 pm »
I just bought a copy of the Baby Whisperer today in the hope of getting my 3 week old into more of a structured routine. The thing is, the book clearly states to go three hours between feeds until around 4 months, but my son is already going at least 4 hours. He was a big baby (9lb 9oz) and right from the start has gone at least 4 hours between feeds. He normally goes between 4 and 5 hours, and sometimes at night will go 6 or 7 hours. Whether awake or asleep, he shows no sign of being hungry until at least 4 hours have passed. The health visitor and midwives have assured us that this is fine and he is getting enough to eat/drink - he is filling plenty of nappies and is putting on weight. My question is should I put him straight on the 4-hour EASY routine or should I try and get him into the pattern of feeding every 3 hours?

Welcome!
If he is healthy and gaining weight, and your medical care providers are not concerned, I don't see any reason why you cannot go with a 4hr feeding routine.
