tracy's suggestion for taking bottle - question
« on: April 23, 2006, 19:07:18 pm »
Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but here I go. Feel free to move it if needed.
I need to get my DS to take a bottle. I'm not going back to work, it's just that we're invited to a wedding in a couple of weeks time and I'd like to leave babs with my mom for one day and night.

When he was 2 weeks old, he used to take the bottle (ebm) no prob, since I was having lots of probs with b/feeding. BUT I stopped and of course he doesn't entertain it anymore.

Tracy suggests to offer a bottle first thing in the morning and try it every hour until baby takes it. But does that not mean that poor baby will stay hungry for a couple of hours???? I know he won't starve, but I'd have such a bad feeling about it.... And my son is soooooo stubborn, that I can see myself struggling and worrying all day...

Any ideas?
Thanks

Mena

I am going to shift your post to breastfeeding, I am 100% I have seen other posts really similar to this and the breastfeeding mods are excellent.

A mom recently posted about having success using this method.  I could not do it myself though I don't think, but my lo has taken bottles well since about 2 months I think.

Also, if you check at the top of this message board, you will see a sticky with tips on how to get bf babies to take bottles.

Good luck and let us know if you have any more questions.
