bowl movements of a BF baby..

what can be considered ok for the amount of bowl movements.  my lo was going every 5 days or so and within one day changed to 2 times a day.  what caused this?  isthis ok?   any info or experiences would be great...

Pretty much anything is normal! When my DS was little (less 6 weeks) he had seedy BM with every feeding. Then at one month, he went to BM every 3 or 4 days that were 'blow-outs"- huge messes. Now at 8.5 mon (on solids since 6 months), they are more formed and anywhere from 1-4 times a day. As long as there is no pain with BM, then you little one is doing OK.

ok thank you.  also, just for future knowledge, how do you know if your baby has diarrhea??  if they are always pure liquid anyways?

I would think counting the wet diapers as a baby with diarrhea would get dehydrated and not have enough wet ones.
