Keeping E.A.S.Y while baby is in pain
« on: April 25, 2006, 11:42:28 am »
Hi ,
I  am a father of a 3 weeks old baby.
My wife and i started the E.A.S.Y routine at the very beginning and it seemed OK. My son started having mysterious pain throughout the day. When we try to making go to sleep, it sometimes takes an hour for him to fall a sleep, every 5 Or 10 min he suffers from pain which wakes him up and we need to calm him down again . It happens a lot during the day and early morning. At night he fusses a lot, he growls, and sometimes even cry. So what happens is instead of sleeping 2 or 3 hours , he wakes up after half an hour or less sighing from pains.
It is very hard to keep E.A.S.Y this way.
We are also checking with the Doctor.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

It sounds like its wind.  Have you tried gripe water or colic drops?  This helped my DD when she was in so much pain.

You can also try keeping him upright for 15-20 mins after a feed to aid in digestion.  It could be reflux as well.

I was also thinking reflux perhaps. But as a veteran of that problem, I can honestly tell you that it's basically impossible to keep a baby on a routine when they're in pain. It will only cause everyone more stress and grief. My advice to you is to do the best that you can for now and work on the routine for real once the pain issue is resolved.

Keep us posted!

You might want to check out the colic, reflux and crying board, there's lots of good information there!
