NIGHT WAKING HELP!!!
« on: April 26, 2006, 15:18:37 pm »
I have a question about my 12 week old.
I feed him anywhere from 5-6:30, then bath, change clothes, and
swing.  He falls asleep anywhere from 6:30-7:30.  I then wake and feed at
9:30 and put to bed.  He goes down no problem.  For a week or more he was
sleeping from 9:30- to atleast 4.  This past week he has woken at 1:30
or 2 or 3.  I was wondering if he may need to go to bed earlier and
maybe I should not be waking him at 9:30 anymore.  What do you think could
be the cause of these wakings.  I give him his paci and he will go back
to sleep for a few more hours and then wake again so I don't thnk it is hunger.  I was trying to e-mail THeo's mum because she has had so much success but I will take any advice, because I know there are more mums that have had success.

how exactly is lo falling to sleep ie what is the bedtime routine like? i would tend to think feeding right before bed and not have much activity in between would help. also i wouldn't wake lo to feed - but would opt for the dream feed which is done while lo is sleeping. could you also post lo's daily routine?

What would be the difference in a dreamfeed at 10:00 and feeding him at 9:30.  I would rather feed him at 9:00 or 9:30 and have the chance of him waking up at 3 or so than stay up late and have the chance of him waking up at 3 or so.  Sorry, I'm desperate for sleep.  Also, I change his diaper before the 9:30 feeding...If I put him to bed at 7 or 7:30 and dream feed then won't he wake up sooner screaming for a dry diaper since he hasn't had one since 7 or so?

Also, I have the book but it has been awhile since I read about dreamfeed.  Would I take him out of the crib to feed? or leave him there and feed?

you would take lo out of the crib for df but very gently so not to wake him. you could try doing the df at 9:30 but the idea behind it is not to wake him or it could turn into more night wakings. the later df is to get lo to sleep later kwim?

Update, I put the LO down at 7-7:30 after his bedtime routine and he slept until 4:15 w/o a dreamfeed.  Maybe this will be a routine...and not a one night thing.  It was nice.  Sorry mama and daddy are too tired to wake up for dreamfeed.

I fed LO 4 1/2 ounces and put him back down.  He stirred for a little while and fell asleep until 6:30.  It was nice..I hope this will be a pattern... atleast for a little while.  It was nice to sleep from 9-4:15.  That's my boy!

click on it and it will take you to a website to create a ticker - there are many different sites to go to - some have more options than others.
