I'll check it out Rina, thanks.
Nope, not a better night, worse.  Her naps were shorter, she can't breathe poor thing.  We were up for 3 hrs lastnight.  She just went down for a nap early, only 1.75 hrs A time.  I will let her sleep more than 30 min this time of course, just so there's time for nap #2.  I was just running out to get some infant cold meds when she yawned, so I brought her back, and first thing when she gets up we'll go out.

Sorry all,my eyes are blurred and crossed from the several late nights and touchy days, I barely skimmed the rest of your posts.

OliverRowland-just keep playing around with nap times and bed times, you'll get there...but once you do, the lo will change again ;)

Oliver: sounds like time to shorten the morning nap again. Your NW sound exactly like ours. At 10-11 months, Owen's NW became consistenly 1.5-2 hours long. He never did that before! I didn't even know babies could do that!  ;D I thought a NW was when they cried in their sleep, and you had to shush them! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Was I dumb! Anyhoo, monkeying with the AM nap is what got rid of the NW for us. Sounds like he's ready for an adjustment! Oh, and Owen always sleeps in when he has those NWs too.  When we were still on 2 naps (with short AM), I had a certain time in the morning I wouldn't let him sleep past to ensure we got both naps in. Once we got to the point where he could sometimes do 1 nap, I'd let him sleep as long as he wanted, which helped us make it to 12 pm for a long middle nap.

Kathryn: Hot damn! Way to go!!!!!!! Getting your routine back is wunnerful, isn't it???? WOOHOO!!!

Rina: Way to go, you too!!! Can't believe lovey gave her more nap! That's great!

Bangkokmom: Owen will only sleep in car if he's tired too.  Maybe it is time to get rid of that nap! I don't know. I know some moms on here shortened it all the way down to 15-20 minutes before getting rid of it. We shortened to 30, and then just pushed his awake time until he could make it. The first few times we did 1 nap, he only slept an hour. Then, sometimes we'd get 1.5, and now we're pretty consistently getting 2-2.5 hours. So, be prepared for some VERY early bedtimes if you decide to make the leap! Like Kathryn, on the days we kept 2 naps, I didn't let him sleep more than 2 hours (unless I got weak and stupid).

OK, we're going thru something nnoying. Not sure if he's sick or having SA! It's a long story, but we've had NW 2 nights in a row despite perfect napping routine. Today, I'm debating offering him a short AM nap because he was actually just layiing down in the family room for 10 minutes! He never does that! So, I know he's not feeling well. Plus, b/c of NW and waking at 6:30 this morning, he only got about 9 hours of sleep last night. Still not sure what I'm gonna do, but I gotta decide in the next 10 minutes.  :P I hate shots!!! Whenever we get them, they mess us up for a week or more! His 4 month shots started off a string of events that lasted for 6 weeks of upset! Praying that doesn't happen this time...

Oh, Kathryn - on my other thread you asked if he got MMR. No - we decided not to do hickenpox and MMR at the same time (cuz both can make you sick). I think the other shot was Pertussis?

definitely- we all need more sleep when we are poorly sick so I would go for a 2 nap day. If he is poorly due to the shots then that has probably set off a bit of SA which might mean he can't resettle at night, even though he has napped well.

We were having a great day today (2hr 20min nap!) until 5.45 this evening, I was just about to take Sophie up the stairs for her bath when she fell on her face, landed on a toy and put her teeth through her top lip- there was soooooooo much blood I completely panicked, threw her in the stroller and ran (yes, ran- if you knew me well you would know how unlikely that is  ;)) round the corner to the Dr's surgery. Sophie was covered in blood all over her face, cos she'd sucked her thumb and then wiped it everywhere but turns out the cut is tiny and she was completely fine by the time we got there- was shouting Hiya at everyone in the waiting room and I felt a complete fool! I don't usually overreact but it's the first time she's spilled blood!
Anyway it's now exactly 1hour later, she has had her story, bath, hair washed & dried, bottle and is now asleep- are you impressed?! I am speedymum. And now speedymum wishes you all a happy napping day & night and is going to have a massive glass of wine  ;D

Kathryn, glad Sophie is ok.  :)
got to ask, since you know I struggle with early wakings---how long are your nights? with the 2hr20min naps. are they back to <11hrs?

I am pushing forward with the 1 nap,
yesterdays was:
wake 7
nap 12:20-2:45  (when I went and woke him)
bed by 7:15, asleep by 7:45.
but I heard him wake for a few min at 5:20am and then was up for the day at 6:30?

so todays nap started at 12 (1/2hr earlier then I would have liked) and either I keep him up til normal bed time (and risk night wakings) or he goes to bed early and wakes even earlier tommorow morning.  :P

well so far we've only had 2 naps lasting over 2 hours- the first was Saturday and the second was today so I don't really know about the nights yet. Waking times have been a bit erratic, mainly because bedtimes have been erratic, with early nights all over the place depending on the day. So I have decided to get back on track we need a set bedtime again and hopefully that will sort her body clock out. I'm going for 6.30pm at the moment. Last night she slept from 6.30pm to about 6.05 am- but before that she was waking about 5.50am most mornings. Am hoping to get back to after 6.15 wake up time gradually.

ok thanks Kathryn, I've been sort of sticking with a set bedtime aswell.
I think I'll use outings, walks, snacks and whatever to get us through to 7:20/7:30pm, and then he is staying in his crib til 7am no matter what. It seems like its been forever since we've had a solid 11hrs at night. Although his entire mouth is filled with white swollen gums and looks as though there are many many teeth on their way.   :-\

Becky, hope owen feels well soon.

Kathryn - poor Sophie, glad you are both OK though, but it sounds like she recovered quicker than you ;)

Well, we had 3 NW last night (short ones) 9:30, 4:30, 5:30.  I hope it is just teething....and yes Frankie is a miracle worker!!!  She has 3 that get washed and swapped over regularly, loves each teh same, can't tell the difference.  Only problem is, if she can't find him, she can't settle!  She is so attached that she CANNOT sleep without Frankie!!!

Oh Kathryn, I would've freaked too!  I'm so scared for that first fall.  Glad she's okay, hope you'll recover too ;)

I don't remember if I said this earlier or not, but I will be away for a bit until my computer gets fixed.  So until then I hope you all have great naps and excellent long nights.

Becky - I hope he feels better soon.  Mine is sick yet again.  Ever since 9 mo it seems like she's always fighting something or just getting over it.  Poor little girl can barely breathe she's so congested.

Good luck to you all!!!

Hi

Becky1969 yes that is sooo funny about long wake times i was laughing the whole night through from 10 til 1am last night.

it is so weird Grace very rarely wakes for long periods anyway she did have one nap yesterday although did try for two.  she had about 10 minutes for morning (at an absolute push) and 2 hours (with lots and lots of help!) in pm.  she slept absolutely solidly from 7pm until 10pm and then that was it.  dh went in, then i went in, then i just brought her out.  couldn't handle it anymore - i had spent half of yesterday with head in hands despairing or crying ( well not really - but there were tears!) about NAPS!!!!  so when bedtime farce came along thought i really need to CHILL so out she came and hung out for a while, then back in with us and after several false starts was asleep.

it all sounds sooo bad, but you know the really good thing was she slept really solidly (with us) from 1 til about 5 - and that (for us) is very happy making!

and today when it came time for naps i just stayed calm and thought of her smiling face instead of thinking bloody hell go to sleep child!!!

was so much nicer

anyway today first nap took about an hour to get her down (i know horrible) and second nap at 2.20 went like this: went in room , held her, gave her dummy and 3 minutes later she was out to it, a couple of minutes later she was in cot.  so nice and what a relief after expecting another long protracted battle.

Kathryn sorry to hear about babe - i would have done exactly same thing.

have great weekends and thanks for all your support

Glad you had a slightly easier day this afternoon bangkok mum....

Today, just a 65 min nap.  And happy as larry, and would also be fine for normal bedtime at 6:30...not cranky, nothing wrong with her behaviour at all....BUT

Of course there is a BUT

we are going out tonight...and she is coming :o  If she makes my life easy, I will get her to sleep in the portacot at about 7:30 - more likely scenario - no sleep or a tiny catnap in my arms.....and not in bed at home until about 10pm :o :o :o :o :o

Wish me luck for tonight please, cause if she doesnt sleep out, it will be a 9 hr A time :o :o :o :o

Good luck Rina!
You are braver than I - in Sophie's short life she has never ever been out in the evening, always in bed by 7. I am too chicken to try it.....
