Zander has his settling in session at the nursery on Wednesday and I have to go in for an hour and tell them about his routine etc.  I have no idea what to tell them regarding his sleep because we don't have a fixed new routine yet!

I hope you have a happy little boy for the rest of the day after his long sleep  :D

I found Harvey's routine changed completely when he started nursery! We had to get up earlier so he had his meals earlier and slept earlier etc so i would just see how it goes! I got them to jot down times of sleep, feeds etc which really helped to see if there was any pattern! Mos nursery's do this anyway I think! Also he wasn't keen to take naps at nursery coz he wanted to be doing what all the others were doing and they mostly slept after lunch as he started in the 1 - 2s room though he was 11 months at the time!

ok... wee update...

after projectile vomiting all over me just before 5pm, we had to take a shower (not sure if the has prolonged his waking) but he is still going strong - currently sitting on my knee eating his socks  :D Hopefully in bed for 7pm. :-\

Another update....... in bed for 7pm and sleeping by 7.15pm  ;D    Although I am sure we will see him well before 7am tomorrow morning  :'( :'(

Today we did;
W0645
S 1115 - 1335
S 1915

Just a quick question: where in the BW sAYP does she talk about going to 1 nap.   Someone mentioned it was in that book earlier in this thread and I can't find it.

Hi ladies

Lauren, great to hear about bedtime  ;D  P284 of the book has about switching to one nap.

Veryproudmumof2, thanks for the advice re nursery.  They keep a little diary of everything the babies do each day and I'll be bringing it home each night and writing down anything they need to know too (eg. was up all night screaming so will be tired today!).  I think he may also want to hold on until most of the children are asleep after lunch, hopefully he'll pass out for a couple of hours by then!

Today was great.  Zan woke just before 6 and although he stayed in bed until 7 I could hear he was awake.  I asked DH to look after him (in our bedroom) whilst I did some housework this morning and when I went back up they were both asleep!  Because Zan got those 20 minutes in at around 9.30 I pushed his afternoon nap on to 1.15 and he didn't wake up until 3.45 which worked brilliantly because we went to a BBQ tonight and didn't have to come home to get him to bed until 8  :D

I asked DH to get up with H so I could have a lie in! lol He put him back to bed at half 9 for half hour and I put him down again at 2 for 2 hours and we've been out tonight and had a lovely evening! Hes just gone down so I'm hoping for another lie in tomorrow! H a ha! Thou I'm sure he'll be up bright and early as ever!!!

Hi

Just to report he woke as normal this morning at 0645.

I am not sure how today will go, because we are going out for the day (shopping  ;D) but there a lengthy car drive involved - may be enough to lull him to sleep at srange times.

Zander woke just before 7 and was incredibly tired by 9.30 (didn't realise though as was out of the room and DH doesn't notice these things!).  He was asleep by 10 and I had to wake him to go shopping at 10.45 so ... I'm thinking if I can push his bedtime back to 8pm and he gets up at 7am then he still needs a morning nap (because he's had 1 hour less overnight) and I can push his long nap out to 1/1.30.  This might work better until he's ready to make it through happily until after lunch for one nap.  I'll see how it goes tonight.

Thats what Harvey does, thou he goes to bed at 8 and gets up at 6!  ::) But then hes asleep again by 8 ish and even if he just has half an hour this pushes his afternoon nap to 1 o clock which is perfect for us as have to pick Jake up from school at 3.15 so he wakes up at 3! Its worked out really well and I kind of ignore that early morning nap!!

Were having a funny day today, he went to bed late, think it was half 9, without a bottle and was awake at half 5 then didn't really go back to sleep till half 6 and was up again at 7! So... he went back to bed at 9 and slept till half 11 and hes just gone back up! Ha ha ha... Were gonna have fun tonight I think!!

Have a nice day! Clare xxx

Thanks Clare, I'm going to give it a go!  I think it'll be better for him at nursery if he does have a morning nap as he's going to be so stimulated!  I hope your night is good  ;)  K x

So far today he had a nap from 1030-1035 :o in the car, my friends LO didn't let him sleep every time he shut his eyes she would shreik or play her music Tad.   He then had a nap at 1315 and woke at 1345.  ::)

He never slep in the car on the way home and it is now too late for a catnap because that would mean going to bed at a stupidly late time.

So I will just have to go with the flow and ride it out.......  dinner time now so it may give him more energy  ;D

Have a good evening everyone, I'm off out now for a barbeque!! Another late night I guess, h has been asleep since 3.15, I need to wake him to go out so he'll be grumpy for abit but I'm sure he;ll cheer up when he sees his nanny!

I hope he sleeps good and long for you tonight Lauren  ;D

Zander slept from 10-10.45 and from 1.45-4 and went to bed at 8, we'll see how tonight goes!  It's much more daytime sleep than he'd usually have but bedtime an hour later so that's cool  ;)

Enjoy your BBQ Clare.  We went to a curry evening tonight and I gave Zan some poppadoms with tomato and onion and mango chutney but the onion was really strong and he rubbed it in his eyes and got really upset - he ended up with a toated teacake!

Bless him!! Harvey loves poppadoms! Would much prefer a toasted teacake thou!!

Harvey was the latest going to be out of our 3! He dozed off in my arms at my mums at about 9.15!! Hes gotta be up early for nursery so tomorrow will be a very different day!!

I read somewhere on here the amount of hours sleep he should have and I think for 13 months t was 13 hours... i maybe wrong! So if I let him sleep for hours in the day then I cant expect him to sleep 12 hours at night, but im happy with this, I enjoy the time he is asleep in the day as it gives me time to do my jobs and spent time with Jake too! So, right or wrong, I'm sticking to it!

I'm off to bed now, night everyone, let me know how they get on tonight/tomorrow!!

xxxxxx

Well, it's been a few pages since I've been on, but I think I'm caught up. It sounds like everyone is having similar issues as us...crazy nap times and second-guessing ourselves!!

My little Liv is a little older than yours (she's almost 16 months), and I'm hoping we've finally made the transition. She wakes about 7:15 or 7:30 and goes down for a nap around 12:15. The problem is, she's still only sleeping for 1 hr 15 min. She had 1 day of a nice, 2 hr nap, then 1 day of 1.5 hr, then back to 1 hr 15 min the rest of the week. She wakes up crying, so I know she's not getting enough sleep. She's still sleeping 11.5 hrs straight through at night, though. I'm thankful for that...knock wood!! I'm wondering if she's overtired and I need to give her a quick catnap in the morning, then put her down around 1:00 or so, or if I should just keep pushing her back. I tried to push her to 12:30 yesterday, but she went to her crib at 12:15 and started crying to get in...she NEVER does that. She went right to sleep, but only for 1 hr 15 min again! My friend said I might have to accept that she may never take a longer nap, but I refuse to do so!! I'm just not convinced it's enough for her...but I don't know how to get her to go longer.
