Stacy often people find that their bubs sleep longer at night once they make the transition. You might even find some days when on 1 nap her may sleep 2.5hrs  :o

Okay.... I'm back!! Doesn't look like were switching to 1 nap yet but I really want to!! Yesterday I was off work and H went down at half 9, this is quite common if hes at nursery and hasn't had an early sleep at home before we leave for nursery! Usually at nursery he has a max of 30 mins! This works well as he comes home at 1 and sleeps for 2 - 3 hours at home.  So, yesterday he went down at 9.30 and woke at 12.30! I thought he may manage to stay awake till bedtime but by 3 he was back in his cot and slept till 5! lol He then went to bed as usual at 8 and woke at 7 this morning!  :o Sooo..... I'm a little confused!!! He slept a total of 5 hours yesterday... and then 11 hours at night which is un heard of! Hes starting to get abit grumpy now so we'll see how today goes....

Yesterday DD woke up at 5.44am then she didn't go to sleep till 9.50am woke at 11am and then nap at 2.30pm woke at 3.45pm.

Today she woke at 6.20am didn't want her morning nap whatsoever, tried for 1hr 15mins to get her to go down.  Got her up, she was fine as soon as she got downstairs, had her normal dinner and more  :o, then went down at 1.25pm  :o and was happy to go for her nap, lets hope she sleeps for 2hrs.

I don't know if she is on the transition to 1 nap, or its a combination with her MMR jab on Tuesday plus 2 top molars breaking through the gums.

Sounds like she could be!! Looks like our los are around the same age, I cant see Harvey going to 1 nap for a while though I am trying to encourage it! He went down at half 10 today and has just got up... sooooo really he should be able to stay awake now till bedtime but I bet he doesn't!!!

Oh Stacy, doesn't sound like you're going to be getting a break in the mornings from now on!  How long did he sleep?

It's going quite well here.  Zander's now going to bed at 7.30/8 and wakes between 6 and 7 for his milk which I take into him and leave for him to drink from his cup and he goes back to sleep until around 8 (this morning 8.45!).  Then of course it's fairly easy to keep him up until after lunch and he sleeps for 1.5-3 hours depending how long he's slept overnight.  The earliest he was awake this week was 7.15 and I tried to put him down twice during the morning without success so I think I may as well give up on the morning naps ... for this week anyway!  ::)

Sounds good Stacy!! Ill be checking back to see how he slept!!  :)

Yesterday Harvey slept from half 10 to 2! 3 and a half hours to save you working it out!! He managed to stay awake then till 7.30 and then got up at 6.30 this am!! Sounded good but hes now back asleep again!! He went down at half 9! lol He seems very lazy to me as hes older than your babies yet he sleeps much much more! I don't get it! Maybe its because hes running around the whole day! lol As a young baby he'd never sleep very long, night or day so I'm amazed really!

Kelly, I love the idea of taking their milk into them, I may give that a go, I can cope with him getting up at half 6 - Just about! But hes usually up at 6 and tired by half 7 so think this would be a great idea!! Then maybe he'll make it till 1 for his nap!! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us!!  :-*

That's good progress Stacy.

I'm currently trying to get my screamer down for a nap.  He fell asleep in the car for 45 minutes this morning and now it's 20 to 3 and he's refusing to take another nap.  He didn't go to bed until 8.45 last night and woke at 7 this morning so he should be tired - naps in the morning are now my enemy  :P

Yeah it's a bit of a problem.  If I go out late morning with Zander he'll fall asleep for half an hour then I'm in trouble for the rest of the day.  A trick which worked this week was to give him an apple to hold  ;D

Stacy--I'm wondering if the daytime biorythm is what we're facing. We've tried to transition a couple of times now, but almost every time I think we're there something happens (we go on a trip, DD cuts teeth or get sick, etc.) and she starts getting sleepy in the morning again so I put her down. She'll do well for a couple of days, but then the naps get shorter and I feel like we're doing the whole transition thing all over again. We just got back from a quick weekend trip and she and I are leaving again on Wed to visit family, so I'm wondering if I should just leave her at 2 naps (which she reverted back to this weekend because of the wacky routine), then cold turkey her to 1 nap when all our traveling is done.

Lauren--we're also flitting back and forth, but we're mostly 2 naps a day!

Stacy--I would be interested in some of Ferber's research. I haven't read his book. I was turned off by the whole CIO thing, but I'm sure there's good info in it on other stuff.

I think we'll stick with 2 naps until our trips are done...then I'm going to try to cold turkey it. We'll see how it goes. We've done the whole "push nap later by 15 min every few days" a few times now. I don't think I could go through that again! I think she's close enough she can handle cold turkey now.

Way to go Kaleb!!!

Wouldn't you know once I finally decide to stick with 2 naps, she only takes one today (11-12:30, so it could be an early bedtime).    ::)
