we are on 1 nap today (alternating days right now).  And i had to wake him after 2.5hrs of sleep!  i wonder how long he would have gone?  i really hope he isn't impossible to get to bed tonight!

well we made it! past the 2hr mark, its 1:50 and I'm expecting him to wake soon! he coughed at 45min, 1hr30min, but then continued on sleeping  :D

Oliver Rowland, that is fantastic! you may soon find that 2.5hr is too much without robbing the night. I usually wake at 2.25, so we can keep 11hr nights.

Peike, those 1hr15min naps are usually OT, Noah did that yesterday-and was fast asleep by 6:30pm, would an earlier bedtime on those short nap days be possible for you?

Hey quick post. Ive been trying to put her to sleep as early as I can, to combat the short 1 nap. She is basically getting 12 hrs a nite, with an average of 1 hr 30 min nap. However she is very very tired by the bedtime comes around. She gets tired and then gets second wind. (very active kid) so she seems ok, but only seems. It can be OT buttt she is sleeping fine at nite (knock on wood ::))
Her nap today was 1 hr 15 min. which is nothing, if i give her a second nap she wont go to sleep till 8 but she'll still be up by 7.  How do i extend her nap????

debo, oliverrowland - how do you do it????
Its very hard to get her to sleep too early bec i work :(

We got our nap sorted yesterday, no waking at 1 hr 15, she slept just short of 2 hrs, but the dogs woke her then ::) Anyway, she was happy and fine.

Still having issues with SA in the early AM though :P

Saree's mom, so she's sleeping 12hrs at night? this may only really leave room for a 1.5hr nap. we may get 2hr naps here but the nights are only 11 on average.

saree, I am not sure what advice you need but I am in the same boat as debo...we have NEVER had 12 hrs at night but at the most 11.  Consequently he has been a napper.

Debo, you are right re too much day sleep.  It has only been a problem once when it took him an hour to fall asleep one night (usually 10min!).  But anticipate we will eventually have problems.  But I cannot bring myself to wake him earlier yet as I am afraid of long A time before bed (but he has been a pistol so far in the pm's... it's like the longer nap is an BOOST!) and I assumed with the new transition i should let him get him sleep.  Debo, how long did you wait to cut at 2hrs?  How long have you guys been on one nap?  congrats on your good nap today

we had a successful (so far, haven't had bedtime yet) one nap day today...I'm testing my off-the-wall theory that she's happier on one nap...  ;)

I'm thinking that whatever had hold of Avery the last few weeks, it has calmed down!  Maybe i won't see that endless playing at bedtime phase again for awhile...i think we're averaging once every four/five months!

I put her down tonight at 630pm...nap ended at 130pm...and she was asleep at 645pm!  WOW.

Didn't expect that.....

ps great to hear that things seem to be going great everyone else's way too

thats greaT Sami, guess it was just a phase.

OliverRowland,
honestly, our naps are a bit all over the place. I usually pray for 2hrs and wake at 2hr15min or so. Honestly though, we haven't exactly found the right mix. one day, my MIL let him sleep 2hr40min, and the next day he was up like 45min early (5:45).  long naps aren't usually a problem, it the short ones that drive me crazy.

Well we had such a weird night that I was so confused. He was up 2 hours, whimping and playing and crying and trying to sleep, not at once though. And about 2 hours after it all started he got really upset, hold into me as lifejacket and wouldn't let go, so we ended up sleeping together. DH was not home or it would have been disastewr.

He has never done it before. He has been up , but then its usually crying and I can get him back to sleep but not yesterday. Very weird.

Woke at 6.10 or something, so will o from there.

this nap transition is pretty hard...hang in there!

sami

ps~ on a side note, avery slept till 615 (11.5) am.  i decided to just leave her to see when she was gonna sleep until, as she fell asleep quick and early (645pm) last night.  guess she needed a tad more sleep last night.  we'll see how today goes....

Well I suspect he was little OT too, but its was something else too, as when OT he screams and could be calmed down, but now it was all other things :-\

Weird, weird, weird.

Ohh and he had short nap. 1.25.

But today it was worse. Only one hour and woke happy as clam :-\
