Hope it goes well Meg - let us know. Poor Marisa is SO tired even though she slept late. I think her body is just used to sleeping at certain times and it's slow pushing. It's 11:20 now and about to do lunch and hope she eats well and then just try to get her to even 12 before her nap and hope she sleeps 2 hours - but probably not. Plus her teeth are definitely bothering...

Hope Marisa is ok!

We made it to 1150.  He was fading fast, and we had a bit of a melt down at diaper change.  Which is nothing new, but when you are tired it is hard!  So I put him to bed.  I am just praying he sleeps well and does a little catch up.  I was just so upset when he was up this morning at 530 for an hour.

The painters aren't here yet - I am kind of hoping they are really really late.  Like 2 pm.

does anyone remember when there was a thread about difficult diaper changes and what board it was on?  I need to ask another question - it is only getting worse.

Weird - we're on same wavelength today Meg. Marisa had nice lunch and into crib at 11:50 and was asleep by 11:55 - hoping for 2 hours or more but somehow doubt it - we'll see. I need to take a nap today too!

I've seen threads about difficult diaper changes on both activity and discipline boards. It's totally normal at this age though - and if they are tired or hungry it's only worse. I have to give Marisa toys, books, my cell phone and sing just to even hope to avoid her flipping out.

I gave her Hyland's for her teeth and told her it was still bedtime and she seemed tired and went right back to sleep

Wow, that is awesome that she went back to sleep.  I don't think Tyler would do that.  He'd just get upset that I was not there to pull him out of his crib.

So strange...I find that the VERY FEW mornings Tyler sleeps past 7....he STILL gets tired around the same time...sometimes even earlier.  It always throws me off because I assume he will take his nap later than normal.

Happy napping everyone!!!

Judy - it all depends on how tired Marisa still was - in this situation she was tired and wanted to sleep so she let me give her the Hylands and a quick hug and she was back out. Other times that might not have worked! How is Tyler feeling?

Hi Karen,

Tyler has had a nagging cold or allergies that he can't seem to shake.  At his 15 month appt last Fri, they discovered an ear infection which could be part of the reason for the shorter naps.  I've been giving him a small dose of Motrin before his naps this week and it seems to help.

Update - silly girl was still sleeping at 7 so I snuck in and put a few toys in her crib, turned off her sound machine and opened one shade.

Don't you love when they sleep in a little?  I can't remember what time Marisa normally wakes?  I would LOVE for Tyler to sleep in till 7am, consistently.

Is he on an antibiotic for the infection or are they waiting it out?

Marisa goes through phases of being a rooster (up before 6am). Late for her is typically 6:30 am.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Please tell me I am not missing something.  Please tell me it will get better when the cold has abated.  My poor baby is exhausted, and he can't sleep.  He woke at 1h20 minutes for the 4th day in a row!  and that on a horrible nights sleep.  I am at my wits end.

We did great for the first 3 weeks of this, but now I am second guessing.  He is short napping, waking up crying, just absolutely miserable.  I don't know what on earth will help. Do I go back to 2 naps?  I am trying all kinds of different awake times.  I suppose when he was well rested he went to sleep easily at 7pm and slept approx 12 hours then napped at 12 for 1.5-2.5 hours - but he woke very happy and well rested.

I could try to keep him up till 7 tonight - but that is an awful lot of awake time for the afternoon - but that might get him back on track.

I suppose I should keep it in perspective and know there are much worse problems in the world. I should feel lucky that this is my biggest problem for the day...............

At least the painters aren't here yet.  Now that is ing me off - they were suppsed to be here at noon!  Now I am stuck in for the afternoon, as well.

Ok I can always find something to complain about.
 ::)

****Making matters worse - my poor exhausted boy fell back to sleep (while I was writing my whiney post) and my ****ing cat decided to spaz out right in front of his door and freaking woke him up.  He is screaming now at the top of his lungs and I am devastated.  I am making cat soup for dinner.  I am sick of these cats waking up my baby. I know they know what they are doing.  they are jealous of him - the do it frequently.

Off to get my poor kiddo

It will likely get better once the cold is over but have they checked his ears and made sure they are clear? I guess if it were me I'd give it some more time and make sure no ear infection, etc and if no better in another week maybe try a morning catnap? Will he doze in the stroller or car even for 10-15 minutes just to push things back?

no Karen, he doesn't doze anywhere.  Maybe I can get a little something if I try to rock him/hold him but I haven't done that in months..........many months thank God.

i am very sad about this today. especially since he was so close to getting a decent nap.  now that I do the math, he probably was just crying out during the transition b/c he was so tired, then he only got an extra 10 minutes.  Damn CAT

I know!  Yes!!  Do you have cats?  Well believe it or not they are NOT quiet animals if they don't want to be.  he was standing in front of PJ's room wailing at the top of his lungs and scratching the carpeting - then running up and down the stairs and banging into the wall next to his door!!  Now tell me he didn't have it in for poor PJ    >:(

I know I sound like a total whiner these days- I am just a little on the down side in general (sorry to say, PMS - and hello! Didn't see that coming.)  Listening to PJ whine and cry doesn't really help.

No cats here - DH has allergies. Don't worry about whining - I'm sure I'd be doing the same. Oddly Marisa slept late this morning and I'm about to wake her after 2 hr 15 minutes - but I'm sure she'll pull her rooster impersonation and wake DH and I up before 6am tomorrow. Tell your DH to give you a massage and have a big glass of wine tonight!

(((Sympathy Hugs))-When your little one won't sleep, it totally runs and ruins your life!!!  I can relate.  Hang in there.

Just like Karen said, wait it out a bit (hard I know), once he is feeling better...then you can determine whether or not to go back to 2 naps or just the one.

NASTY VIBES to your CAT!!!    >:( >:( >:( >:(

Keep us posted.
