Does that just about sum it up?
Luke woke up at 6 am this morning, instead of his usual 7 or 7:30.  I put him down for his nap at 11:30.  Less than 45 minutes into his nap, he woke up and never really went back to sleep.  Now he's in there singing, then crying, then singing, then crying.  IT is 1.  Do I leave him?

Oh my goodness Meg! Good thing he didn't get hurt! We use these mesh velcro bumpers - I like them because they're breathable and also because if you try to stand on them they collapse. I agree with you though - hold out on moving to a big boy bed as long as possible!

Amy, sorry about the short nap. If it were me I'd get him up and try for a short nap later - maybe around 3:00 for another 45 minutes. Or will he doze in stroller or car?

Oh Amy I am sorry.  I would give up on this nap and try again at 3 like Karen said.  He'll be tired for sure.  I hate the days they wake early, it just messes us up so much.  If you put them down too early in the day the afternoon is too long and if you hold them off too long they get overtired and shorten the nap.  UGH

Karen, do you think he even needs bumpers?  I wonder.  I was just going to remove them.  He was quite proud of himself.  Walking around looking like the cat who ate the canary for about 10 minutes.  How did he know it was a big accomplishment???

PJ greeted me at the door when I went in to get him after his nap.
   :o :o :o :o :o :o

Meg- I know I'm always saying this to you but....OH MY GOODNESS!  I had to smile though because the thought of PJ looking all pleased with himself if PRICESLESS.  And yes, like Karen said...keep him in the crib until he is MUCH OLDER.  We took Tyler's bumpers out around 8 months of age and he has been without bumpers ever since.  Only thing is, if there is a night light in PJ's Room (which we all know that he knows where it is  ;) ;)) it tends to make his crib seem brighter inside.  Does that make sense?  The bumpers used to block out some of the light from the night light.  Anyways, it only took Tyler one or two nights to adjust.

Karen-That is awesome about Marisa's nice long nap.  GOOD GIRL!!!  Marisa can go from 1PM to 7PM before bedtime?   :o :o  That is really good.  Tyler would be a mess.

Stacy-Is that true about 1 nap making their night sleep longer????  That would be awesome.  I have not experienced that yet though.  11 hours for Kaleb is pretty good though, don't ya think?  That is typically what Tyler does, of course we would LOVE a 12 hour night, but don't see it happening any time soon.

Amy-Did you end up getting Luke?  A short cat nap later should do the trick!

Happy Napping to any others that I missed!!!
Judy

I'd say you can forego the bumpers as well.

Judy - she can make it but it won't be pretty. But we'll leave the house at 3pm and run a bunch of errands so she can relax in stroller and then go to the playground and then more stroller time until dinner around 5:15 - hopefully she doesn't get too cranky.

It's 2:30 and I just put him down for a nap.  He's singing at the moment, but here's hoping...

Well, after I could hear him jumping on the bed  ::), I went in and got him out.  He's started to act a little horsey about 10 minutes ago, so I put him back in bed...mainly for my sanity  ::)

Gals,
Lucas is so all over the place right now, I don't even know what to post.  I'm following along though, rooting for all of our crew!

Grace - yea I hear you!  I was just going to post I have no idea what to predict and I really really should just schedule him before I become a basket case.  Meaning up at 7 nap at 12 for 2 hours crib time, then bed at 7.  I should just do it. I have been talking about it for weeks.  But when he throws a good night or nap my way once in a while i have hop he will just click.  but it hasn't really happened that way yet.  It is all so random.

Another night of wakefulness at 440-530 then slept till 715.  So i was prepared to do 2 naps, then he slept in.  So now 12 for nap I guess.  GRrr

At least the painters are done for sure!

I know the bumpers need to be out.  We put them in at 5 months I should have taken them out at 9 but he is such a light sleeper that I was scared to do it = like Karen said, too much light.  I am thinking I will get a crib tent.  Toddler bed is not an option for this kid.  Especially right now with these night wakings!  He'd be all over the room!  I would find him sleeping under the dresser in the morning or something.  No way

The thought of moving Luke to a big boy bed terrifies me.  He'd be all over the place. One of the girls in my birth club has her lo in a big boy bed and he's doing great.  So scary!

I am wondering if Luke is just trying to be funny.  Mama thinks that waking up at 6 is not funny, however, Luke thinks it is hilarious.

Marisa's teeth are bugging the heck out of her - restless night and up at 6am also - with a huge messy diaper. I'm letting her nap at 10 today up till 12 if she wants and then plan to visit SIL - 30-40 minute drive - she can catch a catnap on the way home - and we'll try again tomorrow!

Meg - are you or your DH handy? If so, you can lower the crib even further - I know people who have screwed in an extra hole and lowered the mattress so it's almost on the ground and their LOs can't climb out. Not sure how it works, but maybe an option? Lucky for us DD is short and so far hasn't tried to climb out...

Of course it's 10 now and just got her in and hear her playing in there - so we'll see what happens.
