hungry at 4am!
« on: May 03, 2006, 14:08:07 pm »
My 13week ds was sleeping from df at 10:30 until 6:00 or 6:30. The last two nights he has woken up at 4am and very hungry. normal bf at 7pm and then bed-df at 10:30pm.  I would be ok with the 4am bf except that he then will not eat at 6:30 or 7:00am----infact does not eat until after 1st nap at 9:30am or so.

I have considered doing the following--what do you think?

1..dropping the dream feed--hopeing he will wake hungry at 2am instead of 4am, and then be hungry enough by morning to take a good feed.

2.attempt to feed more at dream feed---currently I bf on one side only and he will usually eat off and on for 20min (sleeping). I am not able to have him latch on on the other side without him waking fully. Should I try with a bottle instead? How much? 4oz?

thanks in advance,
Deborah

I would try the first option first. Maybe a dreamfeed isn't right for your LO

Agree with Karisa - the DF didn't work for us so we cut it out at about 2.5-3 months. So she'd have her last bottle around 7 before bed and then wake up once at night - usually between 1-3 and then back to sleep until 6 or 7.
