This was a HIT with my 10 month old
« on: May 04, 2006, 21:47:20 pm »
So I started feeling we were in a bit if a rut....

So I made this for ds with chicken one day and beef the other and he loved them both!

2 oz of shredded chicken or ground meat, this can be prepared with a bit of bell pepper, onion, celery, garlic and cilantro.
2 tsp butter
2 tsp flour
Milk, formula, chicken broth, whichever your fancy ;)
Baby pasta, about 2-3 Tbsp uncooked

Set pasta to cook, with a pinch of salt

Meanwhile, melt butter and add flour to make a paste. Once the paste is made, thin to the point of cream with the liquid you chose. Add the liquid little by little so it does clump up.  When it has reached the desired consistency add the chicken or beef.

Add to your pasta, and voila!! A yummy meal!!

I bought some baby pasta which loos like cous cous, if not little stars also do great with this cream sauce.

I didn't know they sold "baby" pasta, lol.

What I've been doing lately with pasta dishes I make (our dinner), is to take a bit of the pasta, a bit of the meat, & a bit of the veggies ... I sort of eyeball the amounts so that it looks like good proportions ... chop them up a bit, and run it through the mini-prep food processor to the desired consistency. To make it more pureed like baby food jars, add some liquid in there. I started out with some liquids, but now I leave it out completely as DD has adjusted to more "solid" foods, and I'm slowly making it more "coarse" (although it's still pretty tiny food bits).

It's interesting to see what baby products are available in other parts of the country. I have never seen a baby spoon that is angled that way (like a dentist tool, lol). All the ones I have seen here in the US are flat, just like the adult utensils. The angled one you are using looks like it makes it easier to hold & feed.

The pasta I think is imported from Italy, and the spoon is from a brand called Nuby, not sure where it's from, and it really does help feeding!

Ah... and of course that's the one store I don't go to because we don't have one nearby.
