Restless Sleep
« on: May 12, 2006, 18:11:47 pm »
Hi,
Again another post about ds sleeping habits.
I just don't understand whats going on?
Ds knows how to put himself to sleep well and only sometimes sleeps though the night.  He just seems so restless during his sleeps.  He goes to bed by 8pm everynight but it sems from bedtime to about 12:30am he wakes crying ever 45min to 1hr.  I have been going in to check n him and his eyes are still closed but rolling around it seems in discomfort, this will go on for about 5-10mins and wil resettle but keeps continuing.  If I interfer he cries out of control.  So I have been leaving him, but feel like I am letting him'cry it out' and there for feel guilty.
I just don't understand what is going on with him.  He usually sleeps pretty soundly during his naps and from abot 12:30am til morning.
I don't know if there is any advice for this or not, or if anyone could tel me why he is doing this and what I can do.  I am confused on what to do for him, and there for sound confused in this post.
We have a fairly consistant rountine, and bedtime routine is always the same.

Hi there

Wakings early in the night - and this sort of restlessness sounds like wakings where DS is trying to resettle himself - are often caused by overtiredness (or sometimes not tired enough, just to make things a little trickier lol).

Can you tell us about DS's routine?

Jo

Hi,
Haven't had a chance to get back on here for a bit to reply.
Ds routine...

Wakes between 7-8 then has bottle and breakfast about 1 hour after wake time.
Play for a bit then usually back down for nap anywhere betwwen 9-10 for 1.5-2hrs.
Lunch at 12pm
Bottle at 1pm
We play, run errans whatever has to get done
Nap around 3pm anywheres from 45min-2.5hours
Supper 5:30-6
Bath around 6:30-7
and bottle, story, bed 7:30

Its more on routine depending on the sleep he got the night before and what time he wakes.
The past couple nights been going to bed arounf 8pm and helping a bit but....
(oh no, he just rolled over on to his glow worm and it started praying, now awake :-X :P :P)

His nap times don't seem to make much of a difference wether he sleeps a little or a lot.
And we have such a hard time having a calming time before bed cause he is so active and crying if not active, well fussing.
I've tired baths in the morning instead of night as well, no change.  Its hard to get him to sit still during a story.  He is always rolling around in his crib.  Top, side, bottom, upside down, bum up, feet up on bars.
I should have know he was going to be so active as he was in my tummy.

How are things going?  My lo is also waking between 11:00 and 12:30 every night.  He isn't hungry then but can't seem to put himself back to sleep though he does it every other time  ???  He is 4.5 months and has good naps now...1.5 in the morning, 1.5-2 iin the afternoon and a 30-45 min catnap about 1.5-2 hours before bed.

Actually things are going great for us finally.
I pushed ds afternoon nap p a bit and am now putting him to bed at 8pm and usually asleep by 8:15pm and we are now on night #6 of sleeping straight though till morning.
I am just hoping I didn't mess things up today as we had a later bbq to go to tonight and didn't get baby home and to bed till 9:45pm.  It was a really chill night, and just relaxing so I don't think he will be over played but........................
Geuss I will find out in a couple hours or so.

Hope things went well!  I'm sure you didn't mess things up!  Once in a while, they'll get out of routine just so you can live your life but if you've got things on track then I'm sure by the next night things will be going smoothly again.
