dreamfeed questions
« on: May 12, 2006, 18:44:16 pm »
hello,
this is my 1st post...my DS is 3.5 weeks old. he's a great eater (on 3 hour easy right now) and a GREAT sleeper...so great that i can't get him to suck during a DF. i finally got him to open his mouth, but the sucking didn't happen.  he's normally insane at the boob for a normal feed...so this isn't a normal issue.  just a DF issue.
i'm BF'ing exclusively and he doesn't use a paci or get a bottle (which i'd like to keep that way).
any tips on how i can get him sucking? keep trying??
i can't do the skin to skin thing because i will wake him up undressing him.
cluster feeding in the evening doesn't seem to be a problem so far...but i would love to get the dream feed going. if i do that, i am confident that he will sleep till the early morning because even now, i am waking him up at 4-5 hours to feed at night most of the time.  sometimes he will wake me up at 3 hours.
thanks for your help.
:)

It does take time to get a b/f baby to take a d/f. It took me until my ds was around 6-7wks before he was wanting to suckle for his d/f.

He does stir slightly when i get him out of his cot to do the feed but i think that was the only way he would take it.
Keep trying as i am sure your lo will take it soon enough. I didn't try every night though, i tried him for 2 or 3 nights then left it for a couple of nights before trying again.

Good luck.
