This week is breastfeeding awareness week and there has been a petition posted to 10 Downing street.

You can help buy voting here.

I cannot believe this lady though. I think she did overstep the mark a little and is reallygoing out of her way to cause trouble. ::)

thanks for that Rhian, its nice to get to vote on things that matter to us!  its too bad that that lady couldn't have found a place very closeby that was still close to 10 downing street but without the whole security issue where she could have breastfed as unfortunately the people who think that bfing in public is wrong aren't going to be swayed by her and she may lose support of more moderate people. i absolutely believe in and support her cause though!

I voted yes too, obviously being a breastfeeding mother myself, but i think she was really going all out on this. lol

I really feel sorry for the policeman on duty as she that he told her he could lose his job, which in all fairness he i think he was feeling awful about moving her on. But he had a job to do.

Thanks.
I agree that perhaps that mum, although well-intentioned could perhaps alienate some people. That doorstep is an entrance to a busy office with people coming and going all the time. She could easily have got trodden on never mind security issues. I doubt the policeman would have batted an eyelid if she'd been 20 yds away on the other side of the road. While it's important people have a right to 'protest', people doing any other kind of protest would also be asked to move on from that particular spot. I'm sure her nursling would have preferred a quiet feed where her mum didn't have to argue with a policeman!
