Switching from co-sleeping to own bed
« on: May 18, 2006, 18:17:45 pm »
I could really use any advise on how to switch my toddler (24 months) from our bed to her own. I am exhaused with all the night wakings and want her to sleep in her own bed. Any suggestions would help.

Check out Lunas mum' thread about Sleeping Toddler in Parents bed a few weeks ago. She had success with the gentle removal plan, which is basically going cold turkey and put toddler in her crib to sleep and you or your partner sleep in mattress on the floor next to her. Every time she wakes, you reassure that you're there, it's night time and go to sleep. Eventually, as her night wakings improve, you start moving your mattress forward to the door on 3 day periods, until you're out of the room. Then, when she manages to sleep on her own, you can deal with night wakings either with the Walk in /walk out method or with pd.
