Hi

Georgia (13 months) had her MMR jab last week and has been really poorly this week with very high temps, bright red rash and a bad cough.  She had a couple of really bad nights which is no surprise but is now on the mend thankfully.

Thing is, her naps have gone completely off the normal routine.  At the moment, I am watching for signs and letting her tell me when she needs to sleep.  Yesterday she got up at 7.45am (30 mins later than normal), had a sleep from 9am-11am, another one at 13.30-15.40 and then went to bed at 18.40 (about 30 mins earlier than normal).  She was a little unsettled in the evening but stayed in bed and slept most of the time (she is also teething hard so I gave her some meds).  Amazingly, she woke once in the night at 3am because she had kicked off her duvet but settled straight away when I tucked her up and slept through until 7.10am this morning which is great.

Shall I continue just watching the signs for now until she has caught up on her sleep and fully recovered?  It's impossible to keep her up when she's exhausted anyway.

Would you postpone normal activities for now?  She should be going swimming this afternoon but I am sure she will sleep through that time?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

x

I think you're doing a great job! for sure, she's getting on the mend and needs extra rest for her body and she'll catch up eventually in this week. I would skip the swimming lesson too if she's tired and wants her sleep.

I hope she gets back on track soon! keep us posted!

Thanks for your support Florencia x

I did go to swimming and it was a disaster.  She was showing signs of wanting to sleep as soon as we left the house and I should have just turned right back and put her to bed.

Anyway, am going to let her lead the way until she settles down in to a routine again.

Thankfully, her bedtime routine is now sorted (thanks to your advice/support) and her night wakings have pretty much stopped ;D
