Both sided feeding
« on: May 22, 2006, 23:50:21 pm »
My DS is a little over 6 months old ( a little over 4 months gestational age) and a few weeks ago I started feeding him from both sides.  He still eats 20 min. on average- now 10min on each side.  Does that sound right?

That does sound like a decent amount of time on each breast. I also began feeding from both sides when my daughter began to finish much faster on one side. I would then offer the second side. By 6 months, babies are really able to chug-a-lug so most likely he is getting the hind milk off of each breast if he is eating 10 minutes on each side!

That was my biggest concern- that he was feeding long enough to get the hind milk.  Thanks so much for the response!!
