Whole Milk
« on: May 23, 2006, 22:51:59 pm »
Just wondering when everyone started their lo's on whole milk.
Is it absolutely necessary to wait until 1 year old.
Is their any harm in starting whole milk early?
I was just wondering, ds is a bit over 10 months old and weighs about 23lbs, if it would be a big deal to start him on whole milk?

I would call your peditrician.  Under doctor guidance we began dd1 on whole milk at 11 months.

I agree with Rachel check with your doctor first. I asked our CHN at DD last check up if i can start her earlier around 11months as we are going away then and she sais that was fine as she is eating well.

We started DD on whole milk at 11 months, but just in her sippy with meals. This gave her a whole month to get used to drinking from a sippy before we dropped the last of her bottles. We kept her on formula in her bottles till 12 months. This was reccommended by our pediatrician though, so I would check with him/her too.  :)

Thank you for your replys.
We just moved to a new province so I am gonna have to find a doctor here and find out.
Does anyone know what the real concern is when starting whole milk?
