Hey everyone,charmed_angelca,i'm new here,so far love this site! I totally understand the "doesn't eat for me"..my daughter is 7,she doesn't eat veggies, fruit, anything good for her,she won't eat....she's been like this since she was 8-9months,Now my baby is starting to do the same thing, she's 10months,i don't know if it's because she's teething....what do i do,i'm usually tricking her to eat...either pretending to give her the soother,or one bit fruit, next bite veggies, but she catches on quick...do i let her "live" for the time being on her milk??        Frustrated and need any ideas possible!

A few questions...what's her daily routine, including amounts, look like? Have you tried finger foods? It's really common around 9-10 mo for babies to reject anything from a spoon and only want finger food. If she's turning her nose up at finger foods too, it could also be teething, which will pass. You can also try mixing up different (and seemingly gross) combinations of purees or mix them in with something she does like.

I wouldn't advise tricking her to eat...keep in mind that feeding solids at this point is all about practice and learning, and tricking her doesn't really achieve either of those. Plus, you'd be amazed at how easy it is for toddlers, even young ones, to pick up on your frustration and turn ordinary things like eating into a battle for control. Unless she's losing weight, I'd respect her preferences and appetite for now and let her eat when she's hungry, which could mean she only wants milk for a few days. I'll check back after you've posted your daily routine and we'll see if something there might help too!

Hi,thanks for the advice, but if i give only finger food to my daughter of 10months,she'll choke...she usually eats her cereal around 8am,,,then her dinner around 12-1,then her supper anywhere from 5:30 -6:30...she has a bottle of her milk around 10:30,when she goes for her nap in the morning, drinks about 5ounces, then another bottle around 3-4,i try to give it to her b-4 then, but she doesn't want to,i try to give her the bottle every 3-4hrs...even then i wonder if she's getting it often enough, then her other bottle around around 9-9:30,well,she might take a bottle 8:30pm,but she wakes up at least 3-4times a night, every night, and drinks...every time! No,she isn't losing weight, but she certainly isn't a big baby either,at around 7 months, she only weighed 15pds....i was told she was a little on the small side...big difference from my other kids. But i won't "push" the spoon in her mouth anymore.I won't trick her anymore either,as i said, she's starting to catch on what i do!
                                                                                                                  Thanks..charmed_angelca
