sleeping on his tummy
« on: June 03, 2006, 22:26:36 pm »
Hello,

I have a question. DS is 6 months old and only started to roll back and forth recently, which he obviously does at bed time too  ::). This keeps him up and upset for a while every time we put him to bed, but eventually settles down. But that's not the question.

Thing is, he rolls on his tummy and stays asleep like that. Since sometimes it is the only position he will calm down in, I let him sleep like that for a while, and then put him back on his back, if you know what I mean. But there are other times when he rolls on his front in the middle of the night, I don't notice and find him like that in the morning.

Is sleeping on his tummy safe at his age? Or should I prevent it?

Don't know if I made myself clear.

Thanks,
Jimena

Totally clear.  If he can pick up his head and move it side to side, he's fine on his tummy.  If he is not waking to be rolled to his back, he's good to go.  Next come scooting and getting stuck in the rails.  Enjoy your sleep until then.   ;)  Although there is a wonderful product to prevent that.  Mesh bumpers!!  Can't get the 'puter to add the link at the moment.    ::)  But it keeps arms and legs inside and is totally breathable.  Good thing as DD sleeps on her tum with her head jammed against the rail.  Ouch!
When you're soaring through the air, I'll be your solid ground.  Take every chance you dare.  I'll still be there when you come back down.
