Do I need to increase A time again?
« on: June 07, 2006, 22:24:02 pm »
Hi there. Gage is taking a little longer to fall asleep, and I am wondering if it is because he is not tired. His first a time is 3hrs, second is 3.5, and last is 4hrs. He has 2 naps, usually 1 of 45 min and the other of 1.5hr. I lay him down about 15 min before I want him to sleep, which used to work. He is taking 20-30 min to fall asleep now. What are other 9-10 mths doing for A times?

Hi Alice,

I am finding Catherine takes a little longer to fall asleep for her PM nap as well, i think it is because they are becoming more active and alert. Sounds like you are doing great and his awake times sound spot on and very similar to Catherines. Could you post your routine for me to look at?

Alice, Gage's your 'A' times sound like Calums. My take on it is that they A LOT more active now (especially Catherine  ;)) and they take longer to wind-down for their activities before sleeping.

Have you tried extending the first 'A' time by 10/15mins to see if that makes any difference. I have only found out that DH will only put Calum in his cot when he is almost out for the count, I noticed it the other day when daddy day care was in operation Calum had been up 3.25hr for his 1st 'A', he look tired but was still playing, as soon as DH picked him up he started to snuggle in and he was asleep in his cot with 5 min.

Hi ladies. Well I thought we finally conquered the swaddle and wedge after many days of short naps (20-30min), and now it seems the Gage has regressed. Like I said he is rolling around playing, singing, and then whining for 30-45 min until I then swaddle him and he falls asleep. The bad day sleep gas made in restless in the night and waking doing the same things. As a result, our routine has been very strange. After the night's party, Gage is waking up in the morning between 7:30-8:30 :o We are used to 6 am. I would say it has been nice to sleep in but I keep waking waiting for him to wake ::) All of this has been going on for about 3 days, and I just want to make needed changes before it becomes habit.

This was our rouitine before all of the changes:
6/7am wake
6:30/7:30 eat
7:30/8:30 solids
9/10 nap for either 45 min or 1.5 hr

11:00 eat
12:00 solids
3.25 ish hrs later nap for either 45 m-1.5

3:30 eat
5:00 solids
bath
bedtime routine/last bottle
7-7:30 sleep

This is was what happend yesterday:

Bedtime previous night 7pm
2am wake back to sleep 3:30am

7:30am wake for the day (today was 8:20 :o)
8am 8oz
8am 2.5 solids
10:35 laid down for nap
11:00 sleep

11:45 wake
12:00 8oz
1:00 4oz solids
laid down 2:50
3:35 no sleep so I got him up to feed 6oz
Laid back down at 3:4o
4:00 sleep

4:40 wake
5:00 back to sleep
5:30 wake

6pm 5oz solids
Birthday party
8:30 bedtime routine 8oz
9:00 sleep

11:30 wake
1am back to sleep

I know that his bad naps are making him overtired as he keeps waking, but I cant figure out why he is overtired. I wonder if he is teething. How long are you gals winding down before naps?
