Napping for a long time - 8 week old
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:19:15 am »
I never in a million years thought I would post a question like this. My first born was the king of 30min naps and I was expecting my second to do the same (psyching myself up lol). But she is the opposite so far. We are on 3 hour EASY but I have to wake her for each feed and when I do she can only last 30mins before she is getting cranky again. If I let her nap for as long as she wants (on those times where her morning may have been out and about) she will nap for 3 hours and will then stay awake for an hour happy.

My question is, should I let her sleep as long as she wants for each nap or keep waking her around 10,1 and 4 and accept an awake time of 30mins?

I know in Tracy's book she says that they shouldn't nap for more than 5.5hrs a day but there is no way that Sofi can stay awake for 1.5hrs in each 3hr.

Also does the amount of day time sleep affect night time sleep ie when they wake for a feed? She is all over the place when she wakes. Some nights it is 2:30 other times it is 5:30am. My first born just kept getting later and later with his wake times until he was going through to 7am at 9 weeks. I think she is going to take a little longer.

Hi Stacy. Yes she takes a feed at night and I put her back in her cot awake and she goes back to sleep. I am just worried that if she sleeps too much during the day then she will be awake at night. But I guess she might be one of those babies that needs more sleep. The complete opposite of ds.
