Not trying to criticize you, but why did your doctor suggest starting solids so early? My doctor told me it was fine to start solids at 4 months too, but many doctors out there aren't completely up to date on the newest recommendations. If you still choose to start solids, that's your choice. I'm not trying to attack you - I just want to make sure you have all the information before making such an important decision that can have lifelong implications on your child's health.

Personally, I would cut out the afternoon fruit and replace it with BF. Ounce for ounce, bm is much more nutritious than any solid food you can give. It contains carbohydrates, proteins, fat, digestive enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antibodies. It is the perfect food for infants. At only 5 months, it is so much more important for baby to be getting bm than solids.
It's great that you're BF before giving solids though. Make sure baby fills up on the good stuff before offering solids.
