Not eating breakfast ..... not to worry?
« on: June 14, 2006, 07:29:17 am »
My little one is 10 months this week and has suddenly become very uninterested in breakfast.  He has a 200ml bottle at about 6.30 which he doesn't finish, then doesn't really want to eat much at all at about 7.30-8.  Should I fuss around trying all sorts of new things to see if I can find something he will eat, or just not worry and assume he will when he feels like it.  He will eat a good snack after his sleep so maybe a bit tired to eat? Could this be related to teething? Am expecting some top teeth sometime soon.
thanks

well..if it makes you feel any better my lo has been off brekkie for almost a month now ::)
She will take about 5 spoons of cereal and/or fruit and that is it. She's been teething and miserable but brekkie is really teh only meal she isn't interested in. i have tried going to finger foods etc but nothing works. she's just not interested. i don't push it on her anymore-i gave up!!
she has a good lunch and isn't losing weight so i'm not overly concerned. she will eat i suppose when she wants to  :D

What have you been offering for breakfast? Maybe finger foods might get him interested again?

toast, grapes, blueberries, cereal, apple puree, other sorts of fruit chopped up, yoghurt, weetbix etc. Ends up looking like a smorgasbord!!! Like Lola's little one, he'll look all keen and have a taste of whatever is on offer and then push it away and refuse to eat any more.

I feel silly worrying because as you can see by the pic he's not exactly wasting away  ;D but don't like to think of him going hungry.  My daughter who has also been a big eater, has gone off breakfast a bit too so maybe it's the weather - we're having a bit of a heatwave at the moment.

i wouldn't worry about it. DD was not a great brekkie eater until now. if he generally eats well the rest of the day i would assume hes just not that hungry. most los don't generally eat a big breakfast until the morning btl is stopped.

We went through a similar phase with our DD a few months ago. This stopped when we started breakfast first then bottle after and now she LOVES her breakfast and wolfs it down in no time.
