Is it ok to have a sleep in once in a while?
« on: June 16, 2006, 00:16:48 am »
I wake up my dd at 7am the majority of te time (she goes to bed at 7pm). Is it ok to get her up at 8am every now and again so mum can get a sleep in (that's if she doesn't wake up on her own)? Or will this throw her routine out the window? :)

I let Theo sleep until he wants and majority of the time he wakes at gone 8am. But his big brother wakes him more often than not at around 6am.
I used to put him to bed at the same time (7pm) and would just give him last feed after 3hrs and not the average 4hrs.

I think he has gotten used to the 6am wakings now though as he has woken this tiem everyday for the past few days.

nowadays Lizwe wakes at 7-730 regularly. I would base the wake up time on his previous nights sleep and day before. If he had had short naps, or a few night wakings I would let him sleep till 8. I don't see the harm in doing it once in a while for your own needs. Just try not to do it that often as it may become routine and begin to affect other areas of your day and EASY.

I take a lie-in when ever I can, but usually end up paying for it later: either the naps go crazy or the next night's sleep, or worst case - both. Despite this it's still worth it every now and then!
