Hind milk when expressing
« on: June 24, 2006, 22:33:51 pm »
Hello,

Just wondering how much hind milk I should get when expressing. I'm breast feeding exclusively until six months but my maternity leave finishes three weeks before my son is six months, and then I will have two weeks holidays when I will introduce solids. I'm building up a frozen supply for the three weeks so that I don't have to supp with formula. Whenever I express and then chill before freezing, and the milk layers separate the layer of hind milk is really thin, 2-3 ml (0.11811 inches), about as thick as the edge of a mug. Should I be getting more hind milk than this- I express until the flow reduces to a drop every few pumps and get about 100-120 ml or 2-4 ounces from each breast.

Any thougths are appreciated!

That sounds like the amount of fat I saw on the top of all my expressed milk.  You sound completely normal to me.  No worries!

Thanks for the replies. It thought it was ok but sometimes it just helps to get other peoples opinions.
