weather and food
« on: June 25, 2006, 14:35:49 pm »
Has anyone else noticed a decrease in the interest their LO has in solids with warmer weather.  Our summers here are around 90 degrees, and our six month old still gets plently to eat.  It is just that when it comes to solids he isn't that interested.  He has always been a good eater and still is he just now wants more liquids (doesn't have to be milk) than solids.  Does anyone else see this trend in their LO?

I did notice that a little bit on really hot days (90 degrees).  I asked my pedi about giving LO water on hot days to keep her hydrated and he told me that she will take what she needs in formula.  I know I tend to eat less on really hot days so as long as your LO is getting enough breastmilk or formula for the day, I wouldn't worry.  At this age, the nutrition is in the milk anyhow.

My DS tends to eat a bit less too, but I've found that it helps to only offer cold food. So now he's been eating his meats (pieces of chicken and beef) cold, and I don't warm the veggies much at all. Plus shredded cheese and yogurt are popular now too.
