Confused
« on: June 25, 2006, 23:18:06 pm »
I recently started EASY and it has been working great so far. My baby is 9 weeks old and i have her on the 3 hour schedule.

I am a little confused and if some would could help clarify that would be great.

my daughter usually has her hour and a half naps like she should but she always wakes up about half an hour before the next scheduled feeding time. Do i feed her ahead of schedule, or do i do A time until the scheduled feeding time?. She only generally feeds for 15 minutes and she drains both breasts in that time. (She doesn't have a problem with weight she is above average according to her doctor). After her feed she begins yawning again in about half an hour, and naps again for an hour and a half.

Another question i have is. As i have only been doing this routine for a week, it seems as if there is no time for to go out in the stroller or run errans. Does it count if she naps in the stroller, sling or car?

your advice would be appreciated. ???

Hello

It might be worth having a look on the EASY boards and comparing your routine with a few other moms of babies the same age as your little one.  At 9 weeks I also had dd on a 3 hour EASY but she was bottlefed and could go a full 3 hours between feeds.  I don;t know too much about bf'ing I'm afraid (failed miserably at it  :() but perhaps a 21/2 hour easy may suit her better at this stage?

As I'm sure you know EASY isn;t about time slots and schedules it's a structured routine, so if dd wakes up early from her nap but is not showing signs of hunger - rooting etc - then she is probably ok to stay up the extra half hour until it's her feed time.  If she does appear hungry though, I'd feed her.

Regards the where to nap question - bw advice is that babies sleep better in their own cots.  However, life still goes on and if I had to go out I used to fit my trips around Mias nap time where possible but I always kept in mind that she was better off in her cot.
