easy question for newborn
« on: June 27, 2006, 03:23:05 am »
okay so we are trying to do easy

what do i do if my dd wake up before her next feed?

do i continue A time

also what do i do if she seems to be really hungry when she wake way early? silly question i guess, my answer would be to feed her and start the 3 hours from this time, so then some cycles we may have a 2 + hour easy, but i guess it is the wake feed that is most important and then the put back down when tired

this has happened a number of times and resettling does not work, should it?

First congratulations on your new lo!
When my dd was 5 weeks old and we started easy I had to tweak her routine to her needs so it did mean occassionally doing easay and also at times feeding at the 2 hour mark. If you are bfing you should feed on demand in the beginning to really get your milk established (but I wouldn't go less than 2 hours).

At that young age resettling may be difficult as many los have gas issues and have a hard time burbing, I used Oval drops and they helped greatly. Also keep in mind that their A times can be really short as they tend to sleep so much when young. Swaddling, paci, zero distractions (ie. a crib mobile), and pt/sh helped settle, pu/pd is good for los when they hit 3 months and older.

Good luck and enjoy the newborn time, it goes so quick!
