11wk old A time too short?
« on: June 27, 2006, 04:10:32 am »
HI, my DS is just about 11weeks and he can still only seem to handle between 50 and 65mins awake before he gets cranky and needs a nap. Is this normal? Do they gradually extend their A time or will he suddenly be able to handle 1.5hrs in a good mood? Seems like friends with similar age babies can handle far longer awake (some have nap issues and seem to go most of the day awake, and they still seem pretty placid) without having a meltdown.

It is normal.  My DD could only handle A time of about 45 mins at 11 weeks.  Read his tired cues then put him down for a nap.  They do gradually extend their A times.
