Quiet Time Activities

Hi all!
Could you reply with some ideas for quiet play time as we wind down to sleep.  ( other than storytime)  THanks! :)

I sing quieter nursery rhymes as a wind down and we also play with her favourite soft toy (which she has when she naps) in a sort of sleepy way.

For some this may be over stimulating, but for our lo after about an hour of awake time we place her in her crib, turn on her mobile and baby Einstein music thingy (not sure exactly what it's called, but it plays music and the fish move around and lights turn on and off).  She will stare at it until it turns off about 12 minutes later.  I think because she is able to kick and move about she works out all her left over energy and doesn't feel the need to do it as much when she is trying to settle in for a nap.  At that time I pick her up and start setting the scene for bedtime and start the nap time routine (turn on ocean sounds, turn off the lights, diaper change, swaddle).

I have a CD with Yoga music on it. Sometimes Brandon and I just sit in his room with the CD on and a lamp on. It works so well sometimes I go take a nap afterwards! My mom got this CD for me when I was pregnant. I used to come home from work completely exhausted. I'd go to my bedroom, lie down and play this CD. It was very relaxing for me and seems to work well with Brandon when he gets over stimulated. That sound and fish thing that Melissa posted about works well too. I have a friend who has something like that too and used it for her little girl when she was waking up several times a night due to teething. Other things I have tried, slow-dancing, singing, and if all else fails a bath works good.
