First night in crib in own room was baaaaad ! Any suggestions?

 Last night we put him in his nursery for the first time , he has been sleeping in bassinet in our room since birth. I put him down with his normal routine , he went to sleep easy enough but awoke every hour or two until this morning. Any suggestions on how to make this transition easier for him(not to mention me)? Thanks!

Have you tried putting the bassinet in the crib at all? that may help.

Apparently they wake every 90 min. or so, so your LO is probably getting a glimpse of the new surroundings and that may be the cause for crying. Does your LO have something he likes to cuddle or that is familiar to him that could comfort him? It may just take a few days b4 he gets used to it. It's ironic to see this post, b/c we just put our LO in her nursery for the first time last night. She has been sleeping in a cradle in our room since birth but is getting too big for it. She woke once..I think it was b/c she was too hot and we put a fan on her. She slept well for the rest of the night (did her usual 10 hours) and woke up normally (cooing and talking to the walls). I guess I should count myself lucky  I thought I had a rough night b/c I got up 5 times to check on her! Good luck with yours...it will get better!

A couple suggestions to go along with the above...
I put a sheet(like the ones they have in the hospital??) doubled over between lo's crib sheet and mattress, this was suggested by the health nurse, as with the plastic mattress can be really warm and both cold, which can cause waking. 
I also put a shirt of mine that I have been waring that day to bed with ds, and he had my scent with him.  I had then bought a lovey and slept with it for a night and now he loves it.
Just a couple things to try.

I just moved my dd into her room and crib for the night for the first time 3 nights ago as well and she's 7.5 months old! Maybe you've already done this but I had her take her day naps in there for a long time first, I also included 2 of her favorite stuffed animals and 4 pacis to keep her company. I just made sure her animals were "safe"- not too big, etc. The first 2 nights I put the monitor on full volume and I never slept- I just stared at the green light . Now I put the monitor beside dh's bedside table instead.

It's my understanding that the baby can smell if you are in the room or not.  So I slept in Jules' room with her in the bed with me for the first week and then with her in her bed and me in the room the second week.  Then I transitioned myself out of her room, leaving after the first feed.  That made things much easier.  But we were going from sleeping with mommy and daddy in our room to sleeping in her bed in her room.  So we had a lot to overcome and we did it in about 2-3 weeks time.  We still wake up a lot to eat though.  1-3 times depending on how early bedtime is.

thank you for the suggestions, I walked around all day with a little bear in my shirt to get my scent on it it really didn't seem to matter though, I made a pallet on the floor and slept beside him,not much difference there either, he was up every hour or 2 again.I'll try again tonight.

How old is he? When he slept in your room did he sleep through, is the 1-2 hr wakes new? Just be sure to rule out other things such as growth spurt, not enough day naps- overtired, etc., are you sure the wakes are from being alone in his room and not related to any daytime sleep/feed issues? Where does he nap in the day?
