I am so discouraged  :(. Dd woke again at 4:30am today. She has a cold and is probably teething too, so that probably contributed, but she's had the cold for the past several days, so I don't know why it was just this morning she woke so early. Just had to vent...

Hugs everyone for early wakeups.  Brooke, I think she is sleeping in because of the teeth.  We only did the dummy this morning cause we were up already.  Otherwise she would have come to bed with us.

She has been sleeping well in the day too, so that is why I think teeth.

Daycare is good at following her cues, I wrote them all down for them.  She does sleep less there though.  I don't get them to resettle during naps unless she is crying, same as at home. They do their best, but she loves being there and playing so often has very long A times and short naps.  If she is tired at night, she goes to bed early.

With her Frankie, she goes to sleep really easy, she takes it to daycare too.

How early is the earliest you will go, Sasha's Mummy?  Do you ever try for a second nap if first nap is so early that bedtime will be too early?

Sasha's mummy,

Just curious - when Sasha has a cold, do you use a bulb syringe to suck out her nose? Carys has only had 2 other colds in her life (I know - I'm lucky.), and she was younger and didn't object. Now she won't let us near her with it, and she doesn't know how to blow her nose yet. For the first couple nights, we gave her cold medicine, but she has started spitting it back out, so no luck with that anymore.

On the nap front, Carys has actually been sleeping pretty well. I hope you have better luck with that. Thanks for your support!

I thought my LO was just passing through gas, so that's why she wakes up early around 5. Today, I found her poops really stinky and soggy (with lots of air bubbles). Poor LO, she has upset tummy :'(
Didn't eat well, didn't nap well (only 30min. naps!). Put her to bed at 5pm today. Hope she'll get enough sleep.

Think my ds has back teeth coming thru. Do they kinda come through the side of the gum???
If not, these ones are  :o
Done pretty well the last 4-5 nights up after 6, but last night up at 5am again, think it is teeth as i gave some pain relief and he went back off til 7.30am.
Do back teeth take longer to come thru??

Another question...do the clocks go back or forward an hour?
If forward, does that mean that when he wakes at 5 it will be 6?? Am i being overtly optimmistic???
Jo

Molars can take a long time, and they do come through differently.  With our LO, we saw one point, then another on the outside, then the other 2 points, and then the whole thing moved up slowly through the gum.  Ouch!  For our LO, all 4 came at once, but it took 2-3 months for them to come all the way in.  He definitely did early wakings during that teething process, but pain meds helped.

Now we're on early wakings from the 2-1 transition coupled with a cold.  And JoC, I'm dreading the time change with you!

we used to use the bulb syringe when she was younger but its too difficult now (KWIM).we just have to wipe her nose a lot which she loves-NOT!.is shes very congested we run the shower b4 her bath so its nice and steamy and helps loosen the mucus.
ps she napped better today
lucsmum
i never usually attempt a 2nd nap as DD fights it even though shes tired which is why we opt for an earlier bedtime..generally it can be as early as 6pm but i'd even put her down at 5.30 if she was supertired. but it varies with each LO
JoC
DDs molars cam through like that as well.first at the front then up the back.
think they are almost fully through along with her canines (although 1 is being a bit stubborn)

WIDE WIDE awake at 5:30 this morning, after waking to play at midnight and 4am... ::)

My DH has suggested a weekend away too - and my reaction was same as yours.  But then I think - there are loads of kids being raised by parents who have no routine, no discipline etc, and those kids are  OK (maybe naughty) but perfectly healthy.  One weekend won't hurt my child...still haven't gone away though ;)

So sorry for all of us just wanting some sleep!

I posted in General Sleep, but I wanted to ask here too...  I talked to someone who said "wake to sleep" doesn't work if your little one uses a paci.  Does anyone know more about that?  Should I even try as it means waking even earlier!?

I've been putting it off b/c I just don't want to get up at 4:30.  MY biological clock seems to get stuck easily.

Thanks for any advice!

Brooke

Rina - Sorry you had a rough night.

JoC - You should go to London and enjoy yourself.  That's so nice of your husband to offer!  Everything will be fine.  I find that if I just GO, it ends up being fine.  My husband tells me I am wound way too tight with this baby stuff!  :)
