Hi all

It is another ear infection, and yes another bloody round of antibiotics.  I live in a very small town, with only one daycare centre and no daycare mums.  I am going to advertise for someone to care for Zara at our house, but I am not all that hopeful of finding someone.  I have asked around, and being such a small town, I would have heard by now if there was anyone.  Can't hurt to try though.

Anyway, finally last night she slept all night (drugged up with panadol LOL) but still woke at 4:27am  Sadly for me, I thought this was wonderful compared to lately.

Now she is napping, her first nap started before 7am because she could barely stay awake for me to dress her for the day poor baby.

Oh Rina, you poor thing (and poor, poor Zara - big hugs to her).  I can't believe she's got another ear infection, I really feel for you.  It puts Seren's continuous cough/cold into context when I read how much you guys have been through.

I send you GOOD LUCK for finding a child minder xxx

Hi Andrea,

Sorry to hear that Sasha is still having night wakings. We finally caught a break last night. Carys slept through the night until 5:10am, probably because we gave her cold medicine last night. We will definitely be doing that tonight, too. She only took an hour nap today, so she will need to get as much sleep as possible. (And so will we! Both dh and I have caught her cold :(.)

I wanted to let everyone know that this support group for early risers has helped a ton.  My son spent his first 8 months routinely waking at 4:30-5:30am.  I spent months trying everything to change this wake-up time, and finally just accepted it.  He was usually pretty happy in the mornings and I figured he was just naturally an early-riser.  Well - for the past week my little guy has been sleeping until 6:30 every morning!!!  I don't know what changed this but I am thrilled!  I haven't changed a single thing - he just decided he finally needs more sleep!  I just wanted to let you all know that their is hope - your little one might just decide to sleep in one day too!

Hello everyone.  Can I join?  I need support badly!!  My LO has been waking early for over a month now.  I am sooo weary.  Just when I think it's going to get better, it doesn't, and I just don't understand.  Why do they do this?  Rhetorical!  I know you wish you knew too.  I'm just soo exhausted.  I want to sleep.  I miss sleeping!  And I feel so guilty leaving my LO in his crib for so long in the morning.  I just feel like I'm going to break.

I chatted with some of you a while ago when he was doing this.  It improved for a couple of months, and now it's bad again.  I just wish things would get better.

Sorry I sound so upset.  I'm not always like this.  I'm in the moment, ya know?

I woke at 3, and right about the time I fell asleep - he woke - 4:30.  So I've been up ever since.  My day started at 3!

Well I just thought I'd post and chat with you who are going through the same thing.

Brooke

Welcome Brooke.

Of course you can join!  :D

Just a few questions that may help someone on here help you with your situation.
What time does he go to bed and how much day time sleep does he get?
When he wakes what is he doing?  What do you do when he wakes?

It's so hard.  My lo use to wake early and I got some advice about just leaving her in there unless she is really crying.  It took one night of her rolling around like a monkey for an hour or so.  She fell asleep and since then she has been waking up at around 6:00/6:30.  I am not sure if you are in the same situation, but maybe that will help if you aren't already doing that.

Hope you can get some sleep soon.
Melissa

Feel free to vent her anytime.
I am so in love with my husband and adore my precious Grace

Hi, I would love to join the EARLY wake up club...though I really wish I didn't need to!
I don't know why he does but for weeks and weeks he's been awake b/w5-5:30.  My lo is 6months and 1 week.  We are in the process of trying to extend awake time and drop catnap.  I though maybe he was waking early cause he was getting too much daytime sleep (2 long naps 90-120min and a catnap), so I started increasing A time.  So now he has 2 naps ranging b/w 30-90min ...and a catnap as needed.  He used to be asleep by 7:15-7:30pm but since the increased A time schedule I have him asleep at night by 6:30-6:45pm (usually without a catnap).  But no change in am wake up.
The other thing is that lo has always had problems with gas.  I hear him starting to toss and turn to workout some gas at 4am.  On some very rare mornings he has passed it without waking and slept t'ill 6am! He has this bald spot on the back of his head from all the head rubbing while tossing and turning!  :-\  :-\  :-\  :-\  :-\  :-\
I just hope someday that his intestines will mature and or he picks another time to pass his gas...like 5pm!!!!!!!  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
So, in short I would love to wake up at 7am one day.....

OliverRowland,

I hear you! Welcome to the club...My dd is almost 22 months old now, and I'm still dreaming of that 7am wakeup ::). Today she had a night waking at 3:30am, and then got up for the day at 4am :'(. So today I'll be walking around like a zombie. And of course my dh is out of town for work, so I won't get a break until tomorrow. (He's been gone since Wednesday.) Ugh.

I remember when Sasha dropped her catnap-she cried bloody murder when i tried to put her in her cot ::).but i do remember having to give her mega early bedtimes.her usual bedtime was 7.30 but some days she was in bed by 5.30 :o :o and sleeping till 6am. ofcourse now was b4 she decided 5am was a lovely time of the day to wake up (solved that by rejigging naps eventually).

Mel

Hi guys.  Most nights still having night wakings...last night was not one of them ;D but without night wakings, days start between 4 and :30 :-\

Not sure which is worse - night wakings or early starts.

Oh, and for those of you who read about our illness saga - Zara now has conjunctivitis and I am recovering from sinus infection. :'( :P

The good new is - we did get a new tooth out of all these night wakings, and there are a couple more that are so close - but she won't let me put my fingers in her mouth to check if they have actually broken through ::)

Oh, and oliverrowland - Currently I have started putting Zara to bed between 5:30 and 6pm and I think it is helping.  Since I started doing that my night wakings are definitely reducing, so maybe the sleep ins will come after that - anything from 5am is OK by me.

Thanks to all who replied to me.  I have not had time to write or even read the past couple of days.  It's been ROUGH.  I work Thursdays and Fridays too, so haven't had a lot of time at home.  Will read and write soon!
