need an idea?
« on: July 03, 2006, 21:05:38 pm »
well my ds is 5.5 months old, today he has thrown himself forward in his bouncy chair and nearly fell out ??? he cant sit unaided and when i put him on the floor on his mat he rolls over and over, we have laminate flooring and he keeps smacking his head on the floor :o.
so i dont really know what to do with him.

i had thought about an activity ring but how much use will he get out of that now, will he be too old in a few weeks?

anyone got any ideas of something i can get that he will get a bit of use out of! my dh isnt in the habit of throwing his money around ;D

any ideas very welcome
Emma

Slightly embarrassing confession - ds STILL uses his activity ring :-[. Got it from Tesco, about £30, he loved it to play in and use all the toys when he was your lo's age, but now he uses it to lounge about in when he's drinking his milk (and having his daily episode of Balamory :-[). So, if your lo is anything like mine, it'll be worth it.

Also, at that age, ds loved his Bumbo seat - he could sit and watch us, made him feel part of things, IYKWIM. Also, I'm convinced it helped him sit up properly. They're not cheap from the shops, but I got a good one (second hand but very clean) from Ebay. I also used it (and still do) as a portable seat for going out - to friends houses, or instead of yucky restaurant high chairs. Really easy to use, carry and clean. (I promise I don't sell them, I just can't recommend them highly enough ;)).

How about a doorway bouncer (I don't know what a jumperoo is, is that the same thing?).
Caroline :)

not sure what you mean by ring but we had a blow up ring which would allow Rachel to sit safely and contained some of her toys.  she used it all the time for that month before she could sit unsupported and then quite regularly even when she could sit fine until about a month ago.  and now she still loves the 4 animals.   of course the other benefit, it was cheap in the sale.  here is a link http://www.elc.co.uk/toy-33630

My DD loved her jumperoo, I don't think it was very expensive and she used it until nearly a year.  It was definitely a good purchase for us.
