How to overcome 3 am wakeups?
« on: July 05, 2006, 16:03:30 pm »
My darling 11 week old wakes up every night between 3 - 3:30. Is this fairly normal or how can we get her to sleep straight through?
She was born 7 lbs and is now 12 lbs.
Her routine is fairly consistent and typical of a 3 hour routine.  She's eating anywhere from 3 - 4.5 oz per feed with activity time in between eating and sleeping.  Any suggestions?... I'd love to get a whole night of un- interrupted sleep  :)

7am-wake up and feed
8 - 8:30- sleep
10:00- eat
11:30- sleep
1:00- eat
2:30- sleep
4:00 - eat
cat nap
7:00 - eat
7:30- bedtime

I am no expert but are you feeding her when she wakes? Tracy says that habitual waking can be broken with w2s or sspat?
What about a dream feed? Are you doing that? By doing that, you will "top her up" until the am. You can also cluster feed her whcih worked really well for my baby and she sounds like she was about the same size as yours.
She is waking cuz she is hungry maybe??
The pro's will be along soon.. ;D

Hiya  :D

At 11weeks at least 1 or 2 night feeds is still absolutely normal, she will sleep through the night when she is developmentally able to do so.

ashtonsmummy-what is your ds's routine?  I believe Tracy says that age shouldn't be needing a night feeding, but I'll look in the book to see what I find.
