Not eating meals...too much milk ?
« on: July 06, 2006, 22:48:07 pm »
Nathan just stopped eating meals last week.  If I can get him to eat anything, it's a few bites of eggs or pancakes.  That's it.

He's even stopped eating snacks, which he DEARLY loves!!  Don't know what's going on...maybe the heat?  But he drinks an INSANE amount of milk every day, and it's been even more lately!!

How do I get him to drink less milk and eat more food?  I can't take the milk away...I have sippy's in teh fridge that he just helps himself when he's thirsty, and I feel (felt?) like that was the right way.  If I am thirsty, I want a drink!  But his consumption is between 40 and 50 ounces a day!!!
The ped even switched him to 2% before his 2nd birthday as he drank so much, and he's a chunker to begin with!

So, even though I feel like I shoudl give him access to it, I want to cut down - a contradiction, I know.

Any ideas from you fab ladies??

Tyler will go through phases of eating air for a few days too, which could be what's happening, but Nathan's milk intake probably isn't helping. Have you tried watering it down? That's an easy way to cut intake in half, and that's what we do with Tyler. Since you're the one who fills the sippy, you could also alternate what you fill it with each time...milk one time, water or something else the next, but just keep it in the fridge either way since that's where he knows it is. Either of those will still enable him to go get the sippy whenever he's thirsty!

Thanks, Melissa!!  I knew you'd be the one to help!!! ;D

Ever hear the saying "Can't see the tree's through the forest"???  Wow, I've advocated on here watering down bottles as a way to drop night feeds so often, I can't believe it didn't occur to me to do that during the day!!! ::) ::) ::)

Thanks for the lightbulb moment!!  You're awesome, as always!!!

(bows head in shame for being such a dolt!! ::))
