Walking shoes
« on: July 09, 2006, 16:19:54 pm »
callous months old and just about got the crawling thing down.  He took his first real "hands and knees" movement yesterday so I'm sure it won't be long!  He loves standing on the furniture and we got him a little "ride on" car that he figured out how to push him self on at 9 months!  However, he now has little callious on his toes (from riding the car all around the house)!  I had a girlfriend recommend walking shoes called Robies (spelling?).  Anyone ever hear of them?  Is it a good idea to teach them to walk/crawl/push with shoes or is bare foot better?

Bare feet are best, but Robeez are the next best thing. They're leather, soft soled, and flexible so it's just like being in bare feet. The 6 mo between when Tyler learned to crawl and started walking were over the fall and winter, so his feet just got too cold and the Robeez were a lifesaver!

Soft soled shoes are better for babies than hard soled shoes. When DD isn't running around barefoot, she wears socks or socks w/Robeez shoes. During the early crawling stage, the Robeez also help keep the socks on too.  ;)  DD has worn her current pairs of Robeez since the beginning of December and they are still holding up well. We had to get them for her because it was cold in our area and she just wouldn't stop kicking her socks off. So the shoes were great for keeping socks on and keeping her feet warm. I love Robeez shoes, and they come in such pretty designs. I already have 2 pairs in the next size up.

They sell Robeez shoes at Nordstrom and Howards Shoes for Children.

I know that you can get "imitation" Robeez at Carter's or at Babies R Us that are pretty similar to the real thing -- soft soled and leather and actually stay on their feet if you're having a hard time finding "real" Robeez.  I agree that they're great for the in-between stage of crawling/walking.

hi,
just thought that I would let you know that when I was in the usa a couple of months ago I found the soft soled leather shoes just like the robeez in Target and they were about 1/2 the cost.  As far as I can tell they are identical, and they work great. you never have to worry about them falling off either.

I love robeez. They just had new fall-winter designs.
I have so many pairs for my DS who is already 2.5 yrs old, and my DD who is almost 3 months old.
DS now wears robeez indoors during the winter time.

I have purchased other brands too. But robeez's leather is really soft, and it doesn't come with a strange chemical smell. After washing it, it's still very soft.

you can purchase robeez online.

If for walking outside on the rough surface, I recommend stride rite.

I love Robeez.  I think they are fantastic but what makes me love them even more is that they originated from a lady in British Columbia who made a pair of soft soled leather shoes for her son Robert.  I am a sucker for moms who have ventured out and made such a success story for themselves.

I love hearing that they are all over the US and doing well.  Too bad about the knock-offs but I guess that's the natural course of a successful business.  I too have been known to save money where I can.
