Settling down at night
« on: July 19, 2006, 00:55:28 am »
I love this method! I am only on my second day but he is going down easier and for longer amounts of time and I actually have time to do things now- for me! It is great! My 5 month old is so much happier too!

My question- What are some activities to do with my little guy to help settle him down at night?. When he goes down during the day for naps it isn't a problem. For some reason when I try to put him down for the night his is still so wound up.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Glad you discovered Baby Whisperer! It is a great, kind method!!!  Several things you can do to wind your baby down.... read him a book, give him a bath (unless it is too stimulating), give him a massage and sing him some lullaby's.  I also feed my baby right after her bath to wind her down.  I do make sure that she doesn't fall asleep while eating though, so she doesn't have the "feed to sleep association".

Good Luck!!!

Great suggestions!  I thought that you might could try spending the last part of the evening in his room with a dim lamp on, and some quiet time cuddling, talking, reading.  I guess that's an extention of the previous post, but I just wanted to say that some alone time outside of the business of the household can help.
