ready for 4 hrs?
« on: July 19, 2006, 15:34:14 pm »
hi :)

my dd is twelve weeks and has just gone through growth spurt. from yesterday she's suddenly extended her naps to around 2 hours a time [with a waking in the middle but still if I manage to resettle her she stays asleep for another slep cycle or longer]. the problem is that her A time is still somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes. so, does this mean she's ready for 4 hrs EASY and I should work on prolonging her A time? or should I keep her on 3,5 hrs EASY??

for the nightime: she sleeps for 5~6hrs stretch from around 8pm and then wakes up once or twice.

TIA,
Monika

Thanks for the link, should have checked it before posting... anyways,

Here are some signs of needing to transition:
1. Not taking as much at a feed (baby not as hungry at 3 hours)
2. Erratic Night Wakings
3. They are extending their awake times
4. Starts taking 45 minute naps

no 1: she's been napping longer so she definitely is hungry when she wakes up [some 3,5~4 hrs between the feeds]
no 2: yep, we've got it
no 3: not really :(
no 4: on the contrary  ;D

so, what do you make of it?? eh, maybe I should wait a few more days and just watch carefully...

Have you thought about trying a 3.5hr EASY, rather than jumping to 4hrs. There is a transistion guide on the link I have given you.
