I'm wondering how much I should give him at his dreamfeed and when he wakes in the night?

To be honest there is no 'set' amount that I can suggest you offer. I beleive most mums/dads make up a bottle and just offer it to the LO, you LO will let you know when you have had enough. More DF info here -->

I have never heard of any guidelines that state a LO should be suddenly on 4hr feeds at 12 months.
Tracy says 4 months and under = 3hr EASY, 4 months and over = 4month EASY, however she does state this is a guideline only. Usually from her observations LO's either made the transistion themselves at approx 4 months or they displayed the signs of wanting to change at approx. 4 months. Some babies stay on 3.5hr EASY well into their 7th ot 8th Month. Here is more info on the transistion -->
